The strength of the Whitby 42 clearly lies in her accommodations. There are good-sized staterooms forward and aft, and both have large adjoining heads with showers. The " U" shaped galley is spacious and perfectly

positioned to keep the cook out of the way of passengers and crew. In addition, there is a large saloon, comfortable navigation station and even a workbench along the passageway between the navigation station and after stateroom. She's a very roomy and well designed boat with enough storage for a years worth of provisions.

The salon woodwork is very nice and she is equipped with a beautiful teak boxed mast and teak and holly sole. Forward of the salon is a full head (Jabsco marine)and a forward V-berth cabin. Aft of the Nav station there is a workbench in the passageway to the aft cabin. There is access to the rebuilt 80-HP Ford Lehman diesel from the passageway. The aft cabin is nicely equipped with a large athwartship berth, lots of storage, adjacent head (composting) and access from the cabin directly to the birdpit. in the world for luncheon, birdtail, dinner or wedding cruises. History Notes The commuter yacht PAM was built for Harrington Walker grandson of entrepreneur Hiram Walker founder of HW Distilleries Distilleries in 1921 by Great Lakes Boat Building in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

(There is only one other known vessel surviving built by them. ) She originally had twin Sterling Petrol gasoline engines propelling her up to 30+ knots from Grosse Pointe, Michigan to the distillery in Canada during Prohibition. Pam is her original name (after Hiram's granddaughter). The late Bob Tiedemann discovered Pam half sunk and in derelict condition in 1989 up the New River in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He managed

to get her then Chrysler gasoline engines running and limped her up to Newport, RI on her own bottom.

In 1991, her restoration began to ready her for chartering. She is USCG certified to carry 23 passengers plus the captain and mate. Pam has delighted many people in her successful 20 + years of private day chartering. The original varnished aft deck has 8 wicker chairs, a coffee table, a beautiful bright and cushioned day bed and coordinating cushions on her varnished engine box. She seats a total of 20 people in comfort on the various locations on the aft deck. Restoration / Refit / Maintenance The start of PAM’s full restoration was in the early 1990s. Maintenance has been ongoing with bottom planks and frames replaced where and when needed.

She was repowered in 2001. Her topsides were wooded in 2007. She is inspected out of the water annually as she has to remain USCG compliant. PAM is stored in a shed with dirt floors in the off season. The Bright work is a yearly project and stripped when necessary.
