Following the demise of NSU, Mazda was left as the only major automobile manufacturer producing vehicles with the Wankel rotary engine.
An entire range of rotary models was developed during the 1970s, but by the decade's end the RX-7 sportscar was the only one of its type selling in significant numbers. Powered by a Wankel rotary engine of 1,146
displacement, it provided great handling and quick acceleration while remaining very fuel efficient, all wrapped beautifully in a sport coupe package. The RX7 is one of the most collectible Japanese sports cars. The seats, original carpet padding, door panels, dash and center console are in excellent condition.

It is very structurally
sound and has an original undercarriage but there is a couple of paint flaws and bubbling on the bottom corner of the driver side front fender (pictured). Other than that it has always been a reliable driver for me, starting on the first crank and never smoking.
It was my intent to keep her as a daily driver and do slow restorative work to her but I have recently received a new job and no longer have the garage space needed. If you have been looking for a good âdriver â quality example I strongly encourage close attention to this example. The engine has always been reliable and my mechanic just performed a compression test which showed an average of 150 PSI per cylinder while cold.
The A/C blows but not cold, I have never had the sunroof open it is jammed and Iâve never attempted to repair it as it didn ât make a difference to me. Someone told me it might be a broken cable.
Also the passenger window does not go up and down all the way and the odometer has never worked in my ownership. I have performed a good of service and cosmetic work including: Complete new carpet set, new rubbers seals, all fluids and plugs, as well as new shifter bushings. It has factory correct Recaro sport seats, Alpina Steering wheels, and bumper mounted driving lights. Overall I can say that this is a great driver example with a nice patina that could be used as-is or would make a great base to take to the next level for anyone.
