Salary Information Department Summary Fashion Design Program: Our professional fashion design program emphasizes conceptual design, industry techniques, and practices in a skill-building curriculum. As the only Fashion Design BFA program in the Southwest region, our creative students are sought after for employment in the fashion industry nationwide. Position Summary The College of Visual Arts and Design at The University of North Texas ( UNT ) invites applications for a 3-year (renewable) Lecturer in Fashion Design, beginning Fall 2024.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include design studios and the span of the fashion design curriculum. The college's standard teaching workload for lecturer faculty is eight courses per academic year. Additional responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate students, service to the program, college, university, and the profession, professional development, and continued enhancement of the design department. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Fashion Design or related areas or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of fashion industry experience in design and/or production.
Evidence of university-level teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to teach all levels (upper-division and lower-division) of undergraduate courses. Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud software for digital product visualizations and presentations. Proficiency in fashion illustration techniques, including digital technologies. Fluency in digital product development systems, such as CLOE3D, Clo Set, PLM , Gerber Accu Mark, or other digital patternmaking software systems.
Experience with 3D visualizations, fitting, and model development is also a benefit. Fluency in designing business systems and product development strategies, including product workflows and systems tracking (such as a Product Lifecycle Management System or similar software platform).
