About Vapor Tech Vapor Tech thin film deposition systems allow our customers to apply functional, durable, and high-performance coatings and finishes on a broad range of consumer and industrial products.

Primary Responsibilities Develop and execute mechanical designs for complex vacuum deposition systems and subsystems. Perform analysis as necessary to validate design concepts, prepare and perform design reviews with a focus on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly

(DFMA). Design machine parts and assemblies using Solid Works, Solid Works PDM and the Vapor Tech ERP system. Prepare assembly and detailed drawings utilizing GD&T.

Collaborate with purchasing to qualify vendors for fabrication and sourcing of parts and components. Drive to established budgets and timelines relative to project tasks. Understands system cost/quality/time considerations and works to present tradeoffs and support decision-making activities. Work on shop floor to resolve design conflicts and proactively identify improvements for manufacturing cost and ease of assembly. Requirements Experience in designing vacuum deposition systems for functional/performance coatings is required.

Strong understanding of the design and/or integration of deposition sources like Magnetron Sputter Cathodes (DC, pulsed DC, balanced or unbalanced, HIPIMS) and cathodic arc deposition.

Experience with the design of multi rotation high temperature turntables for batch deposition systems preferred. Must have a proven record of developing designs from concept to product commercialization. Proficiency in Solid Works. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is necessary, thermal modeling ability is desirable. Experience with the Solid Works Simulation package is preferred. Experience with pneumatics, drive systems, motion and control systems, heat transfer, fixturing is preferred.

Project management experience is a plus. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher. 10+ years of experience. Trains customers in operating and maintaining vacuum equipment while in the field. Consult on technical issues over the phone or in the field to meet customer needs. Electrically troubleshoot system components and understand programmable logic controllers. Domestic and international travel on short

notice is required, up to 70% per year. Typical travel will range in duration from several days to several weeks. Works from specifications, drawings, manuals, sketches and/or verbal instructions.

Ensures conformance with established company quality and safety standards. Applies an extensive practical experience and knowledge base to develop alternative solutions to difficult and unusual equipment and machinery problems and assignments. Reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to department manager. Performs such individual assignments as the supervisor may direct; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the company,

facility, and department. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

Accepts new responsibilities as delegated or required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Desired Skills, Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field. A minimum of 5 years of experience with industrial machinery as either a maintenance or field service engineer/technician. Experience with safety circuits, power distribution, motor control, VFDs, pneumatics, sensors, analog and digital I/O Knowledge of PC configuration, operating systems and industrial networking Experience with Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) or similar programmable logic controllers Experience with communication interfaces and protocols including Ethernet, Ether Net/IP, Profi Bus, RS-485 and RS-232 Experience working with vacuum coating systems or other complex industrial machinery Ability to generate appropriate Service Call reports and documentation A drive for continuous self-improvement and a passion for customer satisfaction Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
