This position involves the safe and efficient operation of Asphalt Rollers and compactors to bring asphalt, soils and aggregate within compaction specifications on heavy highway projects. Requirements: Experience in the operation of an Asphalt Roller on road construction projects preferred. Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge of asphalt and aggregate characteristics Knowledge of rolling

welding industry. Performs welding of metal objects using a Mig welder or Tig welder. Inspects complex welded assemblies to insure product meets both drawing requirements and specifications. Assists in the training and certification process for Welder II. Chooses the correct tools and processes based on customer requirements and specifications.
Evaluates work area to identify any hazards or unsafe conditions. Ensures all PPE is in place prior to beginning the welding process. Other Duties as assigned. Education/Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Trade School Certification helpful but not required 10 + years of experience in welding trades. Must have excellent hand/eye
coordination and possess the ability to use saws, grinders and milling equipment in the preparation of parts for weld. Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
Will have training in the use of precision measurement instruments. Will hold or have held certifications in the welding of aluminum, steel and stainless steel using MIG and TIG welding equipment. Must be able to take and pass welding test to receive certifications as required by prints and or contract. As an intern within our Equipment Division, the selected candidate will learn about the repair and maintenance process and practices Pike follows to maintain the equipment fleet to operate safely and at the lowest cost possible.
Throughout the summer the intern will be exposed to a variety of our repair and maintenance practices; conducting tests and completing preventative maintenance on all brands and types of mobile equipment, learning about work orders, purchase orders, and maintaining inventory.
Classification: Non-Exempt student hourly position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work in the shop to learn about and assist with work order process from creating to completion. Work with shop foreperson to lean and enter vehicle condition reports. Learn inventory processes for required parts/supplies. Trouble shoot and maintain all types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to reclaimers, milling
machines, loaders, graders, dozers, pavers, rollers, dump trucks, Redimix trucks, trailers and road tractors.
