to enhance Indiana’s Lake Michigan fishery. The hatchery’s name honors Chief Mixsawbah, a Potawatomi Indian chief whose local domain was near the Kankakee River in northwestern Indiana.
Mixsawbah annually produces 670,000 salmonids, with a total weight of about 35,500 pounds. Production includes chinook salmon, coho salmon, and steelhead trout. Most of these fish are stocked into tributary streams to Lake Michigan. In Indiana, these streams are Trail Creek in La Porte County and the East Branch of the Little Calumet River in Porter County. Overview : The individual in the Maintenance Repair position provides preventative maintenance and repairs to equipment, machinery, buildings, and grounds at a state facility.
A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this roles are as follows: Make routine carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs. Check heating, air conditioning, kitchen, laundry, and maintenance equipment for efficiency and make necessary repairs. Install curtain rods, toilet paper and toothbrush holders, tile, screens, window glass, doors, wiring and conduits, plumbing fixtures, and other varied items. Check and repair electrical appliances, motors, pumps, fire alarm systems, thermostats, doorbells, and buzzers.
Repair locks, make keys and provide secure facility and property. Assist a skilled trades person on major projects.
