is a critical link in the Northeast Corridor. This essential infrastructure is necessary for reliable operation of Amtrak, Long Island Railroad, New Jersey Transit, and future Metro North service.
The $1.7B ERT Rehabilitation Project will be a complete tear down and rebuild of the rail, power, communications and signal, bench wall and mechanical fire/life/safety systems. The successful candidate will execute all aspects of construction project management for the ERT construction project including monitoring of third party contractor’s and Amtrak force account, work with construction management consultants and coordinate with Amtrak departments such as Transportation, B&B, Signals and
ET. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Construction Manager to provide support in delivering this critical project to provide improved system safety and security, state of good repair, and enhanced customer experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Work with and monitor contractor, construction management consultant, and force account to ensure the project is executed in accordance to agreed upon scope, costs, and schedule. • Assist and/or lead on coordinating and assuring adherence to Site Specific Safety Work Plans with contractors and Amtrak personnel. • Work with the Program/Project Manager, review potential change requests from the field and, if appropriate, assist in preparing potential change notice with appropriate justification for submission to PM.
• Coordinate applicable track and ET outages. • Coordinate the work of contractors to include engineers, technicians, and other personnel who help on specific project activities and assignments. • Provide updates (construction reports) to the project manager on the work, including any issues that occurred. • Review project shop drawings and design plans to ensure contractor is performing work in accordance with up to date project requirements. • Coordinate the preparation and revision of technical work procedures consistent with project design and construction requirements.
• Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in Construction Management and/or Engineering field of study preferred but not required. Purpose of Position:
A glass machinist apprentice will plan, setup, program machine, lightweight and measure high value hardware components, primarily for optical applications. Operations include grinding, milling, light weighting, contouring, vent holing, and other precision machining to meet customer specifications.
Day to Day Responsibilities: Interpret customer and Corning internal drawings/blueprints of glass (mirror or other) parts and determine the approach to be used to meet specifications on 5-axis CNC machines, 5-axis AWJ machines, Large Campbell grinders, Northwoods vent hole machines or similar equipment Determine proper method and sequence to assemble and align workpiece support systems to specific
tolerances Determine process details of how the parts will be loaded, held in place during machining, and unloaded from machine Determine what the optimum tooling, grits, speeds, feeds, lead angles are for machining, light weighting or contouring of parts to ensure features and dimensions specified are met Manage machine/process operations through the CNC controller and process control computer Monitor, measure, and generate process performance metrics through the use of handheld measurement tools and system-generated data.
Operate material handling equipment such as overhead cranes, fork trucks, vacuum systems, and other material handling equipment to move heavy items up to 8 ton without damage.
Participate in the writing, revision and monitoring of Standard Operating Procedures Education/Experience: Graduate from SUNY Canton or other college in A. A. S. Specialist is responsible in assisting in the management and oversight of all Capital Construction and I&C (Individual & Companies) Projects within the NY Portfolio of Capital Construction.
The Lead Construction Specialist of Capital Construction reports to the Manager of Capital Construction for the New York Portfolio. This position will be Amtrak’s on-site representative during the construction phase of projects and works directly with field supervisors and contractors. This position will act as liaison with contractors, design consultants and clients to ensure construction activities support project requirements. The general duties of this position will be to assist the NY Portfolio
to construct a project in accordance with specifications and to monitor/report on production metrics that provide the required data to help the project meet its established scope, schedule, and budget.
This position has a combination of office and field environment. This position is subject to respond to emergencies in all weather conditions 24/7. This position requires overnight, and weekend coverage based on project schedule. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates work activities, track outages, and power outages with various Amtrak departments including Transportation, Track, ET, and C/S. Organizes and attends project site walks with contractors and various Amtrak department personnel.
Provides constructability reviews of design plans and all construction phase submittals associated with the Project. Prepares force account estimates and project estimates and schedule. Works with Project Manager to ensure the project is executed in accordance to the agreed upon scope, costs and schedule. Reviews daily production reports. Provides weekly updates to the project manager on the status of project, including any issues that occurred. Provides formal monthly project status reports addressing actual and forecast costs and schedules, change of status, etc.

Conducts monthly safety meetings and safety stand downs with the force account. Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of Amtrak’s safety rules, policies, and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BS degree in engineering, construction management or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under tight constraints. Must have the ability to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplines and have knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, and estimating.
Possess strategic and tactical skills required for planning and executing complex project work. Strong leadership required, encompassing effective communication, motivation, and team building/team performance skills. Strong Safety Focus. Knowledge of RWP, AMT II, NORAC, applicable FRA rules and regulations, OSHA requirements and other federal, state, and local regulations and standards sufficient to ensure compliance. Demonstrated experience in using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (e.
g. Word, Excel, Power Point) sufficient to prepare effective business analyses and presentations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Valid driver’s license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required OR equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 6-9 years of relevant experience preferred. Practitioner experience with construction and construction management. Demonstrated working knowledge of Amtrak standards (MW1000, Engineering Practices, NORAC, AMT-1, AMT-2) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Safety Standards and OSHA.
Demonstrated construction experience in a railroad environment. Licensed as professional engineer or architect. Certified Construction Management (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The salary/hourly range is $94,300 - $122,256. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc.
