Sciences at University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) welcomes applications for a Visiting Instructor for the 2023-2024 academic year.

This role is a full-time visiting post with a maximum 4-4 teaching load, with possible renewal at the end of the year based on positive performance in teaching and service.

Teaching load is adjustable pending on teaching and service needs in the department. A successful candidate will teach both in-person and online a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses serving majors and non-majors in the Department. These courses may include but are not limited to Introduction to Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Determinants of Health,

Health Promotion, and Health Policy. The successful candidate will also contribute to the Department through participation in Department, College, and University committees and events, advising undergraduate students, and assisting with recruitment activities.

Research efforts are not required. Teaching and research in the summer months are possible. The appointment is expected to begin January 2024 or September 2024. Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) certificate program. The NAIS Librarian builds relationships with Indigenous communities and explores partnerships with Indigenous organizations.

As a member of the Academic Engagement department at UMass Amherst Libraries, the NAIS Librarian incorporates Indigenous teaching methods and information sharing to build partnerships and promote library services with assigned liaison areas, provide research assistance, design and implement information literacy instruction and programming for Indigenous and non-Indigenous undergraduate and graduate students, and create and participate in outreach opportunities. The position is responsible for supporting

activities in partnership with colleagues in the department as well as across the Libraries, campus, and broader community.

Academic Engagement liaisons actively collaborate with faculty and students in meeting both the teaching and research aims of the University and the NAIS Librarian serves a vital role in ensuring the Libraries are poised to meet the goals outlined in the University's strategic plan. Promote a comprehensive and considerate appreciation of Indigenous peoples' cultures, histories, political structures, artistic expressions, intellectual legacies, and research approaches.

Cultivate cross-disciplinary support and programming related to Indigenous pedagogy, methodologies, and epistemologies as they pertain to the ways that Indigenous communities produce and share knowledge. Maintain knowledge of and support for key issues and trends in research methodologies, such as best practices in the co-creation of research, ethical community relationships, the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance, Traditional Knowledge and Biocultural Labels, and the ways they intersect with Indigenous ways of knowing and sharing. Partner with faculty to integrate into the curriculum Indigenous ways of knowing with prevalent information literacy and research skills.

Examples may include developing course-related information literacy sessions, library learning objects for use in course management systems and/or for distance learning, workshops for undergraduate and graduate students, and/or credit-bearing courses in a classroom or online environment. Work with the Content & Discovery division, the Robert S. Cox Special Collections and University Archives Research Center, and the other liaisons to backss and establish collection priorities for Native American and Indigenous studies, recommend or purchase specific resources, promote newly acquired resources, or work with colleagues on reparative metadata projects.

Provide research assistance to library users by email, by phone, by Lib Answers and by in-person and virtual consultations. Align planning, priorities, goals, and services with the strategic initiatives of the Libraries and the University. The candidate will assume a nine-month, clinical lecturer non-tenure track appointment in the Counseling and School Psychology Department, which houses two APA Accredited Programs in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology, MPCAC-Accredited Masters Programs in School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling, NASP-Accredited Masters and Ed.

S. Programs in School Psychology, a graduate certificate program in Applied Behavior Analysis, and a B. A. in Sport Leadership and Administration. Essential Functions of Position: Perform as the Primary Clinician as assigned by the ACCS Integrated Team Director for a caseload not to exceed 28 Persons and as the Primary Clinician on the Engagement Team of each assigned Person Identify engagement strategies considering the Person’s situation and preferences, and review and revise engagement strategies as necessary. Responsible for each assigned person’s clinical backssments and treatment plans. Provide guidance, feedback, and training to supervisees to insure the

knowledgeable incorporation of evidence based practices and philosophies into engagement strategies, treatment planning and the selection of interventions based on each Persons’ backssed readiness and expressed interest in order to support long-term recovery.

These practices include but are not limited to; Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT), Stages of Change, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Seeking Safety and Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM)Utilize recovery-oriented language and principles in all communication and interactions with Persons, colleagues, and collaterals. KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES Pre-Program Attend all training/induction meetings prior to the start of a session, as required Review itineraries and become knowledgeable with attractions the students will visit Complete any required training sessions/courses as directed Program Set-up Assist the Activity Manager(s) with the preparation of the site to include creation of bulletin boards, signage, itineraries, welcome packets, and activity programs Participate in the set-up of student rooms by distributing linen, arranging furniture, and preparing keys Arrival Day Enthusiastically greet students at the airport and escort them back to campus Participate in the orientation program for each group Accurately check-in students, distribute welcome packets, and materials, as well as the collection of any required forms and/or security deposits Assist students and group leaders by show the guests to their rooms and reporting any problems with the cleanliness or condition of the guest's rooms Lead campus tours and activities to familiarize the guests with the campus On-Campus Activities Lead the students in on campus activities to include sports, swimming, disco nights, karaoke, talent shows, scavenger hunts, and games Assist in the set-up and/or breakdown of the room(s) for each event Participate in the staff talent show act(s) and encourage others to participate in all activities by leading by example Off-Campus Excursions Be knowledgeable regarding the itineraries and places the studen.
