The position will be located in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology. The candidate will assume a core faculty, non-tenure-track lecturer position (one-year appointment), teaching in the Rehabilitation Counseling Master’s (CACREP accredited) and School Counseling Master’s (MPCAC accredited) degree programs.

All requirements of the position may be completed remotely, although preference may be given to persons who are willing to teach and engage in service activities in person. Teaching assignments may also vary depending on the needs of the School/department and will include a teaching load of 8 courses across the fall and

spring semesters. The successful candidate will be required to: teach courses in the Rehabilitation and School Counseling masters’ programs teach 4 graduate courses in the Fall and Spring semesters (8 courses per year) advise graduate students within the Rehabilitation Counseling and School Counseling programs provide service to the Rehabilitation Counseling and School Counseling programs We seek candidates with teaching and clinical experience, preferably licensed, who have a commitment to serving students from a wide variety of backgrounds and identities.

Ideally, we seek candidates whose teaching and clinical/supervisory practices display an understanding of the impact of systemic

and structural racism and other sources of discrimination on mental health and disability status and/or prevention and intervention efforts, consistent with the University’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications for the position: An earned doctoral degrees in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as full-time faculty members in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.

Preference will be given to candidates who are: Successful and engaged graduate teaching experience inclusive of social justice, critical pedagogy, and intersectional approaches to learning, including online learning formats. Licensed or license eligible as a Rehabilitation Counselor, Mental Health Counselor, Family or Marriage Counselor, or School Counselor.

Eligible to be Certified as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with persons with disabilities including mental health disabilities, or working in schools Have a minimum of 2 years of youth-focused mental health experience. Responsible for each assigned person’s clinical backssments and treatment plans. Provide guidance, feedback, and training to supervisees to insure the

knowledgeable incorporation of evidence based practices and philosophies into engagement strategies, treatment planning and the selection of interventions based on each Persons’ backssed readiness and expressed interest in order to support long-term recovery.

These practices include but are not limited to; Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT), Stages of Change, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Seeking Safety and Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM)Utilize recovery-oriented language and principles in all communication and interactions with Persons, colleagues, and collaterals.
