Maintenance Storeroom Technician - Lubrizol Gastonia The Maintenance Storeroom Technician is responsible for overall organization, distribution, and replenishment of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) materials inside the plant's maintenance storeroom
and warehouses. You will directly impact the maintenance department's ability to perform high quality precision maintenance on industrial equipment. You will interact with a wide variety of maintenance shop and plant personnel like Maintenance Planners, Process / Project Engineers, Multi-craft Maintenance Technicians, and Production Operators.
Your responsibilities include a good mixture of physical work and computer / desk work. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Manage storeroom inventory by accurately recording parts checkout using paper and computerized (SAP) methods Utilize paper-based system to track short notice material checkouts Utilize SAP system to checkout materials to Work
Orders, Cost Centers, and Capital Projects Utilize SAP Work Order pick-lists to collect and organize parts for upcoming planned work Assist delivery drivers with unloading equipment and material deliveries using manual lifting techniques, hand trucks, forklifts, or other types of materials handling equipment.
Assist drivers to unload various delivery trucks (vans, box trucks, tractor-trailers, and flat beds) Utilize forklifts to unload large materials like piping, electrical / controls cabinets, equipment skids, etc. Assist with rigging and spotting for larger equipment unloads (telehandler, boom truck, etc.) Restock storeroom inventory by replenishing shelf, bin, or other stock locations with new material from incoming shipments Sort, unpack, check-in, and organize materials from recent deliveries Move materials from receiving area to the appropriate storeroom shelf / bin location Package and ship materials offsite as-needed for refurbishment or related activities Utilize SAP system refurbishment process to generate appropriate Work Order paperwork, quotes, RMA, etc.
Package materials appropriately for shipment (boxes, protective packing, palletizing, etc.) Weigh packages and facilitate postage, packing slips, and pickup Works directly with Maintenance Planner, Reliability Engineer, and Procurement Dept to determine appropriate inventory levels for spare parts Performs audits of spare part inventories by comparing SAP inventory levels to actual inventory on the shelf Organize and distribute maintenance shop tools, equipment, etc.
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience with maintenance, plant storerooms, and/or materials handling in a chemical, or closely related, manufacturing environment Experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), with a strong preference for SAP CMMS Good communication ability with management, engineers, maintenance personnel, and plant operators Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously Preferred Requirements – Experience / Education / Skills And Training Military training and experience in maintenance, repair, computers, and/or storeroom environments Excellent computer skills, preferably with SAP, Maximo, or closely related CMMS system in manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with tools, maintenance repair, or related crafts Training on proper operation of forklifts Familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and related PSM topics Familiarity with ISO 9001 and cosmetic ingredient GMP Physical Requirements Ability to work 8 hour shift for normal 5-shift / week schedule (M-F) with occasional overtime (later afternoons, nights, or weekends) Ability to work on-call coverage with call-in partner (rotating schedule of night and weekend on-call duties, depending on experience/work history) Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment (indoor and outdoor) Ability to sit, squat, stand, walk, and climb stairs on a routine basis (multiple times per shift) and climb ladders on an occasional basis Ability to lift and carry up to 50 LBS Ability to push and pull wheeled carts, or similar equipment Ability to operate materials handling machinery like forklifts, pallet jacks, hand-trucks, etc.

The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of business goals and objectives.

Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear. Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices. Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs. Troubleshoot, install, repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment, to include but
not limited to: hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, VFD/HMI/Servo control devices, conveying systems, industrial printers, valves, photo eyes, switches, heat exchangers, level controls.
Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment. As applicable refer to blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery. Operate and support industrial, refrigeration, boiler and utility operations. Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment. Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators. Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
Complete scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment (planned and unplanned maintenance activities). Respond to production needs as they occur on the production floor. Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records, work orders and task records. Accurately input and record PM (planned and unplanned activities into SAP or other MIS/ERP system. Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). Comply with federal, state and local safety regulations. Follow SQF and Company GMP and 5S guidelines to produce a safe and quality product Adhere to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.
Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel. Other duties as required by management. Job requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Industrial ammonia refrigeration, high pressure boiler and utility experience. 1-2 year(s) prior industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing environment required. Ability to utilize computer-based maintenance planning/PM ERP platforms, SAP a plus. Ability to trouble-shoot electrical, hydraulic systems and pneumatic equipment.
