Duties Enforce the laws of the United States, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and applicable local regulations involving persons and property. Operates the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal to transcribe data, the Breath Alcohol Tester (Intoxilyzer) for suspected impaired Conducts long and short-term investigations when solutions cannot be achieved during the course of a normal patrol shift.

Collects and preserves evidence, conducts short-term and long-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develops case information. Appears in court

to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings. Prepares documents, correspondence, technical reports, messages and charts statistical tables.

Requirements Conditions of Employment The Job Opportunity Announcement (JOA) states that resumes should be limited to 5 pages. Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. from a DOD, Federal, National or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) course or complete within one year of hire date.

This position requires the incumbent to perform and pass semi-annual qualification testing with firearms (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc), and observe applicable safety precautions. This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion. This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.

This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the essential functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56. This position requires the incumbent to meet individual reliability and suitability standards prescribed by the Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and AR 380-67).

This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. Lautenberg Amendment Act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U. S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force. In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as " Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization, The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e. g. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conduct traffic investigations by following investigative leads, taking statements, and gathering information/ facts; AND advise on traffic management issues impacting the movement of traffic; AND detain and interview witnesses/suspects to obtain information; AND operates a variety of electronic investigative technology to gather supportive data such as National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal, Breath Alcohol Tester (Intoxilyzer), 3D laser scanning technology, or Crash Data Retrieval Systems; AND appears in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
