This may be filled as either an Academic Advisor or Senior Academic Advisor and candidates will be placed into the position for which they are most qualified. The position is responsible for administering and developing the Kinesiology advising programs, implementing advising policies in coordination with the Director of Academic Programs and Advising, assisting faculty with advising, and problem-solving to respond to student needs. Job Summary Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Infrastructure Systems, the Senior Peoplesoft Database Administrator has primary responsibility for the reliable and secure operation. management and support of the People Soft software, Oracle database, and related software components underlying
the People Soft Student Administration software and other administrative information systems. Essential Functions Leads software development, testing, and release management cycles for People Soft application software and underlying Oracle databases.
Ensures that all operating system, database, and application software updates and patches are applied and coordinated with development, testing, and production requirements. Maintains source code control libraries and other release management software as necessary. Manages multiple People Soft and database instances and sets up new People Soft Campus Solutions Server instances and new integrations. Creates and documents procedures for maintaining
these systems. Reviews critical software updates and new releases for People Soft Campus Solutions servers, application and underlying Oracle databases.
Consults and works with other IT units on best practices for automation and process improvements to ensure that they are consistent across the board. Documents best practices and procedures. Acts as technical resource and primary support for other third-party software such as the University's document management system Image Now, Oracle EPM Data Warehouse, job scheduling software Control-M and others and serves as primary technical contact with software vendors for system upgrades, fixes, and problem resolution.
Creates and maintains regression testing plan and associated test programs, scripts, and data which covers both vendor-supplied and locally developed software. Establishes administrative and technical design standards for application developers and technical support staff to ensure the performance, reliability, audibility and maintainability of the People Soft environment. This includes detailed coding style guides, naming specifications, and technical documentation standards. Coordinates periodic reviews to verify compliance with standards. Leads and participates in group and technical reviews for testing plans, documentation, and configuration to ensure that application design decisions meet the long-term objectives of the People Soft technical architecture.
Triages more complex user issues and handles daily Service Now tickets, handles issue escalations from Peoplesoft Database Administrators, and triages failed People Soft Campus Solutions server agent jobs, including backups and maintenance jobs. Implements improvements to existing processes to prevent issues from resurfacing. Other Functions Reviews existing major processes to determine if improvements are needed.
Assist Lead Peoplesoft Database Engineer to make recommendations to management. Mentors and provides training in the use of databases, tools, application development tools, and reporting tools for the Peoplesoft Database Administrators. Develops back-up and recovery plan and monitors compliance. Participates in off-hours on-call rotation for urgent problem resolution. Performs other related duties as required. Job Summary The Human Resources Generalist supports the human resource (HR) function for Commonwealth Honors College (CHC) and serves as an advisor and consultant to staff and faculty on matters related to human resources management, personnel policies, and procedures. The College includes 10 units and serves
over 3,500 students. Essential Functions Interprets HR policies and procedures and communicates information to staff and faculty. Coordinates faculty compensation processes for all honors courses across the University.
Initiates, manages and tracks personnel processes and actions for all staff and faculty. Ensures personnel actions comply with and are completed according to established University and departmental timelines, policies, and procedures. Facilitates recruitment by managing all aspects of the search process: Works with hiring managers to develop clear, accurate, and results-oriented job descriptions. Consults on search committee selection and appropriate advertisement venues.
Initiates requisitions and posts open positions via electronic applicant tracking system.
Communicates regularly with search committees and monitors progress. Prepares search summaries and offer letters for approvals. Troubleshoots most HR questions and problems independently, escalating unique situations or more serious matters to supervisor as required. Develops and implements on- and off-boarding processes. Ensures completion of any required paperwork. Answers questions from newly hired or departing staff and their managers. Assists the Assistant Dean of Administration & Finance on projecting payroll and position management for CHC's approximate $4 million payroll budget. Includes: maintaining the tracking worksheet, monitoring personnel actions, and providing reliable and precise payroll data for use in internal and external financial reports used in long-range planning decisions. Acts as point of contact for time reporting or payroll questions and concerns. Assists with undergraduate and graduate personnel action processing as needed.
Other Functions Acts on behalf of the Assistant Dean of Administration & Finance on HR matters as needed. Recruits, trains and supervises 1-3 students per semester. Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet College, Executive Area, and University goals and objectives.
