As the lead area manager of Little Gator Creek Wildlife and Environmental Area (WEA), the incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the WEA with wildlife habitat management and public use administration as the principal goal.
Wildlife habitat restoration and maintenance is primarily accomplished by applying prescribed fire, mechanical vegetation treatments, and exotic plant control. Other responsibilities of this position include the effective supervision of subordinates, development and revision of long-range, comprehensive management plans, annual
work plans, budget proposals, area regulations, and reports.
Incumbent will work with other staff to enhance wildlife habitat and promote compatible recreational use for the general public. Incumbent will periodically participate in team meetings, seminars, workshops, and public outreach events relating to wildlife resource management or other training opportunities. Persons applying for this position should be familiar with hunting and hunter check stations, have strong team leadership skills, be comfortable working independently in the field, and have experience in prescribed burning, plant identification, and exotic plant control. The ability to operate ATVs and other field equipment is preferred.
There is currently no field office associated with this position, so incumbent’s office will be their home.
