The Labor and Delivery unit at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital located in Fairfax, Virginia has recently undergone a beautiful renovation. Our unit consists of thirteen private labor and delivery rooms, an eight-bed triage/PACU area, and three operating rooms. The types of patients range from low risk deliveries to high-risk patients with pre-existing multisystem medical and obstetrical problems.
The usual staffing assignment consists of 1 RN for 2 laboring patients and change to 1 nurse to 1 patient based on acuity and phase of labor. 2+ years of Labor and Delivery experience is strongly preferred. General Requirements: - Proficient in English, strong verbal, and written communication skills - Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others - Values team collaboration - Proficient computer skills required - Completion of revised Charge Nurse workshop within first 90 days. Minimum Education Requirement: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 12 months of start date.
Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement: - Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (e NLC). - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start - Specialty certification (as required by the unit) within one year of hire.
