The boat is solid all around. The floor on deck and the cabin is solid. The gauges are working properly. The windlass is working too, as well as all the electronics. The bilge is clean. The upholstery shows its age, but mostly in good condition. The trailer appears to be in good condition.
This boat is a mix between a “Palm Beach” and a “Carolina” style of boats.
While still having a high rising bow for a very dry ride, the transition from the bow to the birdpit of this boat is much longer and far more subtle than the Stoner 26. The engine is mounted on a custom flotation bracket. The Stoner 23 is equipped with a built in cooler,
a full circle live-bait well above deck in the birdpit, large fish box in the bow, and a Stoner Boatworks console with a pod. The most experienced diesel mechanics and captains would prefer to embark on a voyage around the world with a proven 1100 hour engine that had its 1000 hour service than one with half of the hours, as the 1100 hour engine is proven.
The pods were just rebuilt ($30k), the bottom was just painted and all Volvo services are current. The current
owner brought her to the shipyard and said “do everything to make this the most reliable, best running and ocean worthy 50’ Prestige on the market”. Other than commercial fishing boats and ferries, few Volvo engines will ever see the day they need a major service.
