Those will be included in the sale of this vessel. This Karl Stambaugh-designed WINDWARD 28 is a cruising version of her successful shallow draft sisters.
She is a gaff-rigged ketch and she has generous accommodations in her cabin. Her arrangement is a V-berth forward, galley to port, storage to starboard, two settees, and a porta-potty to pull out from under the bridge deck. Her self-bailing birdpit is large enough for family and friends to spread out.
Storage is provided in the lazaret and under the birdpit seats. When not under sail she is powered by a 2006 Tohatsu 6 HP four-stroke engine. She will sail upright and go to windward well as her name indicates. The split ketch gaff rig is easy to handle and reduces easily when white caps appear. Her hull construction is glue and screw 1/2" plywood and epoxy on plywood bulkheads and
straight frames. Her sails are in good condition and she comes with all running rigging and the original build plans. She rides on a 2008 aluminum dual axle trailer made by Advanced Boat Trailers of Jacksonville, FL and custom-made for this boat.
Since new, when not in the water, this boat has been stored in a climate-controlled inside storage building built specifically for this boat. Currently, on the hard in Green Cove Springs, FL, this nice Hunter 37.5 spent most of her life up to 2019 as a freshwater boat On Lake Champlain in New York. Since 2019 she has sailed the waters of the Bahamas 4-5 months out of every year and she's
ready to take you on your next (or first) sailing adventure. Entering the main salon, the galley is to port with a nav station on starboard. Just forward of the galley is the dinette with a pilot berth and the settee opposite to starboard. The table folds down to maximize the space but when it is meal time it is large enough to accommodate the whole crew.
The galley has a double sink, a gimbaled two-burner stove, and a microwave oven. There is also an entrance to the master stateroom from the galley. There is also a flat-screen TV in the salon and a Daewood Mini clothes washer on the bulkhead to port in the Vee berth. The Vee berth is large and comfortable and has a new memory foam mattress.
The owner's stateroom is aft and offers a center line bed (rare for any aft birdpit sailboat) with a Custom Foam Mattress. It can be entered via the galley or head and offers a standing headroom of up to 6'2" There are two hanging lockers and ample storage compartments.
The head is to starboard and includes an onboard shower. Engine access and maintenance is easy and quick. Both the forward and aft engine compartment covers are removable in seconds and access is also available from each side. When not under sail the boat is powered by a Yanmar 3HM35F 30 HP diesel pushing a Hurth ZF 63-A transmission. This 1987 Hunter Legend 37.5 is the perfect home on the water. The main salon is
open and airy due to the skylights and the large portlights.
The Huge Private Aft Stateroom offers an island double berth with a foam mattress (no crawling over one another to get to bed). Great starter boat! 1977 Kells 28 for sale in Palmetto, Florida. This Sloop is easy to sail and will make a great starter sailboat or a nice daysailer! The seller has owned her for three years and regrets having to sell her. From November of 2020 to March 2021 the seller has had a mechanic go through
the engine and make sure she runs well. The interior is well laid out and sleeps 5 comfortably. The cabin and birdpit cushions are in good condition. The Yanmar engine pushes her along nicely. Engine hours are unknown. There is a windlass on the bow for easy anchoring!
