Fully rebuilt, the believed-to-be original LS9 350-cubic-inch Chevrolet V-8 engine in this K1500 runs and performs well!
t features a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor and a later-model HEI electronic distributor with a high-performance aftermarket ignition coil. This âAction Lineâ GMC also has the desirable âRamâs hornsâ
exhaust manifolds that are known for their reduced backpressure and easy fitment within the chassis. The exhaust gasses are then plumbed into aftermarket chambered mufflers and are then sent to aluminized steel tailpipes that exit under the rear of the vehicle, behind the axle.
With a four-speed manual transmission, power enters a two-speed transfer case with manual control, providing 2-HI, 4-HI, Neutral and 4-LO, all of which are said to function properly. A full restoration of the bodywork included professional prep work and application of the original Medium Olive Metallic paint color. This hue also spreads throughout the interior and there is no sign of rust present and most of the
panels are original. The bed measures eight feet long and has been treated to a black textured sprayed-in liner. Factory bumpers and original grille and brightwork have all been refinished with a high polish and/or re-plated in chrome accordingly.

Rebuilding of the 350-horsepower 396-cu. in. V-8 had already been âcompleted in 2016 and 3,050 miles has been put on it since. â The engine features a two-bolt main block that was bored over, and new pistons were fitted. To boost output, a hotter camshaft, Hedman headers, exhaust with a crossover
pipe and Flowmaster mufflers, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, and an MSD electronic ignition system were swapped in. He advises to pump the gas pedal a few times on cold start and says that there are âno fluid leaksâ from the engine, and the four-speed manual transmission âshifts like new.
â As part of its rebuild, the Muncie four-speed was modified by fitting âan 0.80:1 fourth gear in place of the 1.00:1 gear to lower highway rpm, â. And he notes that the 12-bolt rear axle is equipped with Positraction and a 3.55:1 gearset. During the restoration, âthe quarter panels were replaced, due to rust. â The paint is âvery good, and was almost perfect
when new in 2020, â and that there are no swirls, but he does note are a few scratches where the trunk lid contacts the latch. The glass is âvery good, â with no scratches or cracks, the seals are in âperfectâ condition, and the lights work.
Per the cowl data plate, this Chevelle originally had a black vinyl top (code âBâ after the paint code), but decided to go with the painted roof look. the seats are in âexcellentâ condition, the carpet and headliner are ânew, â and the heat, AM radio, and air-conditioning unit from Vintage Air, all work. The only gauge in the optional cluster thatâs inaccurate is the oil pressure, which âreads high, â New bushings, shocks,
ball-joints, and steering linkage were installed during the restoration, but the factory coil springs were retained.
The âwheels are perfect, â he adds, and the BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires are said to be about five years old with 3,000 miles on them. The SS âdrives and brakes straight, â and the power steering has a âlittle play like it did when new, â but no leaks, that the power disc/drum brakes are âperfect, â and that the car ârides and handles like it originally did. â

One of 8,184 such sports roadsters produced that year, this 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is described as âan entirely original example with barely more than 19,000 miles, â which he believes to be accurate based on its odometer reading and the fact that it has been reportedly owned by one family since new.
The paint, powertrain, and interior
are âas they left the factory in West Germany, â with the interior described as being in âas-newâ condition, and with chassis components that may be original. The 450SL was powered in 1979 by Mercedes-Benzâs 4,520-cc OHC V-8. With a compression ratio of 8.8:1 and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, the engine was rated by the manufacturer at 215 horsepower when new.
The engine in this 450SL is said to be original to the car, with no stated rebuild history of either the engine or three-speed automatic transmission. The engine is said to start normally without smoke, and the transmission reportedly functions without issues. A minor oil leak at the pan is noted. The engine bay appears
to be stock and generally clean. The paint on this car is original and free of swirls, noting paint chips on one quarter panel as blemishes. The convertible roof and hardtop are said to function normally, without leaks.
The seals are described as fair, with no leaks reported. The car is free of rust. The bumpers are free of visible damage and the chrome presents as being in very good unrestored condition, per the images. The 450SLâs lighting is said to be in proper working order. The seating areas in this 450SL are in visibly very good condition, with no tears and nearly no wear creasing. The photos also show the carpeting presenting as being in like-new condition, with no visible soiling
or worn spots. The hardtop headliner is said to be in âas-newâ condition.
The padded dashboard shows no damage and no missing trim or small controls. The wood veneers appear to be in good, undamaged condition. All instruments, including the factory Becker Mexico cassette radio, are said to be in proper working order. The power window lifts and central locking are said to work as intended. A look beneath the clamshell hood reveals good paint on the engine block and rocker cover, with the color chipped away in only a few locations.
Some minor surface corrosion can be seen on the lower carburetor body. A copper-infused air filter is present, as is a new fuel filter. The ignition coil, associated wires and heater hoses all show as virtually new. This Special Deluxe is optioned with extras that include dual side mirrors and squarish fog lamps. All of the truckâs chrome and stainless-steel trim was refinished and polished, and still presents very strongly. All the glass in the cab is new.
