This vehicle was purchased by the most recent owner in 2002, and did a full rotisseries restoration that was completed in 2008!

The car has been driven less than 500 miles since completion! The original, 325-horsepower, 396-cu. in. OHV V8 (see photo of the block VIN stamp and code) block was bored.040-inch over, and the previous owner, who's been a mechanic for 40 years, fitted it with the refurbished stock crankshaft and connecting rods and new Keith Black forged pistons. He chose the camshaft for the 350-hp 396 engine,

and hardened exhaust valve seats were installed in the Oval-port heads during their reconditioning. The original cast-iron intake and exhaust manifolds, and the Rochester Quadrajet carburetor were retained.

He adds, " The water pump, distributor [now fitted with a Pertronix electronic ignition], and alternator are all rebuilt and original to the car, as well. " This car runs and drives like a dream and is a blast to drive with the 4-speed manual transmission with an Easton posi rear end with 3.55 gears! This SS 396's body was media blasted, and he replaced the rusted quarter panels and fenders with NOS GM parts, and welded in a new trunk floor and wheelhouses. The previous owner

then delivered the car to a body shop for refinishing in factory code-72 Monaco Orange, but in a more modern basecoat/clearcoat system.

This is a sow quality paint job that looks as good as the day it was completed! A new black vinyl top was installed, and except for the windshield, the original glass was retained, and has no scratches. All of the weatherstripping was replaced during the restoration, there are no leaks, and the exterior lighting operates as designed. Prior to 2010, the black vinyl upholstered cabin was restored to new and still looks it, All the factory instruments and the recent owner-added accessory gauges function properly, as does the original AM radio and the heater/defroster.

The reproduction F70-14 Firestone Super Sports Wide-Oval redline tires, mounted on 14-inch SS steel wheels with trim rings and SS center caps are perfect for the car! Completely rebuilt during the restoration, the suspension and power front disc/rear drum braking systems remain in excellent condition. The power steering was upgraded with a quick-ratio gearbox.
