Its seller notes some cosmetic issues, but reports it has benefited from recent mechanical attention. The Chieftain Safari was powered in 1957 by Pontiac’s 347-cu. in. OHV V-8. With

a compression ratio of 10.0:1 when mated to the Hydra-Matic transmission and a Rochester 2GC two-barrel carburetor, the Pontiac V-8 was rated by the manufacturer at 252 horsepower when new. The engine in this Chieftain Safari is said to be original to the car, with no stated rebuild history.

Rapid start and no functional issues with the Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission, with no powertrain leaks noted. The engine bay presents as being stock and acceptably clean. the body seals and weatherstripping are in leak-free condition, and states further that the car is free of rust.
