It is very structurally
sound and has an original undercarriage but there is a couple of paint flaws and bubbling on the bottom corner of the driver side front fender (pictured). Other than that it has always been a reliable driver for me, starting on the first crank and never smoking.
It was my intent to keep her as a daily driver and do slow restorative work to her but I have recently received a new job and no longer have the garage space needed. If you have been looking for a good âdriver â quality example I strongly encourage close attention to this example. The engine has always been reliable and my mechanic just performed a compression test which showed an average of 150 PSI per cylinder while cold.
The A/C blows but not cold, I have never had the sunroof open it is jammed and Iâve never attempted to repair it as it didn ât make a difference to me. Someone told me it might be a broken cable.
Also the passenger window does not go up and down all the way and the odometer has never worked in my ownership. I have performed a good of service and cosmetic work including: Complete new carpet set, new rubbers seals, all fluids and plugs, as well as new shifter bushings. It has factory correct Recaro sport seats, Alpina Steering wheels, and bumper mounted driving lights. Overall I can say that this is a great driver example with a nice patina that could be used as-is or would make a great base to take to the next level for anyone. 425hp and it really rolls out! It lights up the tires VERY easily. This motor has 1500 miles on the new build. ARP bolts were used on assembly down to the Trans pan bolts.400 SBC Aluminum Brodex heads, Hydraulic roller Aluminum Brodex intake Quick Fuel Carburetor Scat 407ci 400 Rotating Assembly Headman Headers Weiand Water pump Transmission: 700R4 with overdrive paired to a 2500 stall converter.
This trans was built for the motor. Very strong with Kevlar bands and manual valve body. I have a second TCI standard valve body that is brand new in the box that goes with the car.
The overdrive allows you to get up on the highway and cruise at 70 with RPM's around 2K. Rearend: A rebuilt 10 Bolt rear with 355 gears. Brakes: All brand new CPP 4 wheel disc brakes with steel braided brake lines. The car stops very strong and safe just like a modern car. Steering: New 400 series power steering conversion box and a complete power steering kit. This was all done in 2017 with the rest of the build. New Pitman arm, all steering linkages and components are new. Steering is smooth yet positive
and firm. absolutely no play in the steering. The turn signals switch off properly after you complete a turn.
All the little details that seem to get missed on some classic builds was fixed or replaced. Interior: The interior has all been replaced. New headliner, carpet, door panels, weatherstripping, package tray and all window cranks and door handles. The heater box, fan and heater core were all replaced and works great with all original controls. I also have a brand new Vintage Air complete kit brand new in the box that will go with the car. The kit retails for $1400. The seats were rebuilt with new springs and foam then recovered in a period correct black textured vinyl.
The gauges are all new Classic Instruments hardware. They look beautiful and work flawless.
