It is a complete easy project car.
Very little rust on easy to repair areas Bondo free body Nice interior , leather can be redye then conditioner , driver seat has some small tears but not bad at all. Motor and transmission are good I already start removing parts and get them sand blasted and painted. I got behind the bumpers all sand blasted
and some parts has been primed and some still needs paint job. Hardwares kept in bag with their name. Needs new shocks booths Brakes and calipers and rotors are good Hand brake is good All hydraulic parts are good condition , they were recently serviced and flushed.
Engine has been flushed and fill up with new oil newer engine mounts. I have original air filter box. Floors are nice has some surface rust on some areas but not rotten. Pictures shown badly rusted areas but they are not complected to get it fix because rusted areas mostly flat surfaces or none complex shapes. Hood latch cable knob broken and need new one Speedo meter sender cable snap when i was removing , it needs new one.
It needs some rust fix and new paint would make it perfect. Carpet from floor areas missing only , rest in place and solid. It has original glass head light covers for both side and one side was broken has plastic one , glass ones are none exist any more and used ones sells around $600 each from my search.
Plastic ones are exist as set for cheap It might need some door seals depend on how far you want to restore the car. It has two extra spare rims. I already get the passenger flat tire fixed it can be town or roll with out any problem. It needs a Dome light cover , i have the original one but clip of if broken it wont stay in place. are good shape just the clip it hold them in center is broken All body panels align perfectly , doors , hood , trunk opens and close very tight and smooth.
Hood shown not align with fenders on pictures because hood release knob is broken thats why i made sure hood stays open other wise it will be difficult to open it back until pull knob is fix.

This is a pretty well loaded early production car for this brand new very popular body style, built in September 1972. The car spent it's entire life in North Carolina. This car is pre-emissions
and has a pre-economy differential so it gets out of its way pretty well. It also has the better looking, smaller, lighter bumpers compared to later years. This is one of the nicest driving cars from the 70's I've ever owned. I will try to be as descriptive as possible, but please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I have owned this car since early this year. The car
has a five speed manual transmission and is in very rare, $2000 optioned, Slate Grey Metallic color. The original engine has been expanded from 3.6L to a RSR Spec 3.8L, using all high quality parts ($26k+ in receipts for engine alone). I have full records for the car dating back to 1995, including the complete build.
This car was originally a California car, made its way to the South and has since returned. Current miles on chassis is 154,7XX. The engine was rebuilt at 139,742 in 2008. Roughly 14,958 miles on the new engine. The best way to describe this car in one word is BEAST. It is all business. Drivetrain: As mentioned above, the engine is a 3.6L expanded to a RSR spec 3.8L mated
with an original rebuilt G50 Transmission. I was told it produces roughly 280 whp with stock cams, and if swapped for race cams, it would yield significantly more power.
The build includes the Mahle 3.8 Piston and Cylinder kit, Carrillo rods, Smart rod bearings, ARP Bolts, knifed edged/drilled crank, Weltmeister single pulley hub, Titanium springs and retainers, port and polish, GT3 Oil Pump, Bosch injectors, rebuilt distributors, new crank bearings, rebuilt lower pully/harmonic balancer, Wevo mounts, lightweight RS flywheel, Motronic DME, Mappying by Steve Weiner, dual front auxiliary oil coolers, RSR Rennline Engine Carrier, RSR transmission mounts, and RS clutch. a mouth full. The engine does have one drop of oil every other drive, which I think may be coming from the top of the engine.
I never noticed a change in the oil level because of this. The car really pulls hard, and is tuned for 93 octane. It sounds absolutely amazing with a stock exhaust, stock heat exchangers, gutted J-pipe and Fabspeed Euro Resonator/Catalytic delete. I will include a Catalytic converter for those needing a smog inspection. The transmission does have a short shift kit as well. All fluids changed 100 miles ago. The last three owners and I have always used Brad Penn oil to ensure sufficient Zinc and Phosphorus levels. The car is planted on JIC Comp coilovers with rear remote adjusters, and comes to a halt with 993 Turbo front brakes and 968 rear brakes.
A 993 Turbo Brake Master Cylinder with Brake Biased Adjuster help all the pieces of the brake system work in synergy. Pads are EBC Blue Stuff for street driving. Urethane bushings all around help make the steering insanely direct. And finally, a set of super wide 18x10.5 Front, 18x11.5 Rear CCW C14 18â wheels with Toyo RA-1s give the car an âall-business â look. Bought new in Southern California, the car remained with its original owners until 2005, when it was sold to a Volvo enthusiast and collector in Washington State and two years ago to me. This car is a textbook example of what happens when pride of ownership meets Volvo build quality. Not only is it in excellent running order, it is 100% rust free and original, a West Coast survivor car that's been cared for from day one. The car has had one repaint in its original color of Light Green, code 91.
This is arguably one of the best Amazon colors and was only available in 66 and 67. The paint quality on the car is to good driver standards - it shows a few chips here and there and some minor overspray on some of the rubber seals. The paint has good lustre and shine and overall presents very well, it's good enough for local shows but not so perfect that you'd be afraid to really
get out there and drive it. The body on this 122 is very straight with no dents or areas of waviness, I have not detected any bondo anywhere on the body and the undercarriage is likewise solid and original.
I have inspected the car from top to bottom and have found zero rust issues, pretty remarkable for its age. Panel fit is all good with consistent gaps. The glass are all original Sunex pieces in great shape, the windshield is a Volvo branded replacement and is crystal clear. Tires are classic Michelin XA4's with lots of tread and no sidewall checking. The side trim shows a few little dings, doing their job I guess. All of the chrome on the car is in good shape with no pitting. The
rear bumper has been rechromed, the front is still original and shows some age related fading.
Neither bumper have any dings or dents, another testament to this car's charmed life. Lights and lenses are all in excellent condition. The CA black plates you see in the photos are the ones issued to the car in 1966, they will be included with the sale. Also included: Every registration slip from 1966 onward. A huge stack of service receipts, chronologically arranged from 1966, detailing this car's complete service history. The original owner's manual, warranty booklet, warranty card and dealer directory Temporary license permit issued by the dealer when the car was first sold.
An anniversary card and oil change coupon from the selling dealer;1966 corresponence from Valvoline relating to a special warranty offer if their products are used. Clean trunk area with an OE Volvo replacement gas tank. The trunk exhibits no rust issues, one look under the parcel shelf and you can tell that this trunk was never wet. The green interior completes this classic 122 color scheme. The seats are in excellent condition with no splits, tears or scuffs, they're very nice. The rubber flooring shows some areas of wear, overall though it's hanging in there pretty well. The dash pad has one split above the instrument binnacle, these are very easy to replace and are readily available from suppliers.
Step plates are in good original condition, windlacing is new. Door panels are terrific, door weatherstripping is new. Nice steering wheel with no cracks. Back seat is excellent, side panels present as new. All gauges and lights work correctly, dash shows the optional hazard function, overdrive switch and indicator light. The heater and fan are very effective and will singe your socks in typical Swedish style. Radio works, original seat belts are in good shape. The B20 motor was rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago, it fires right up and runs super.
This Volvo cruises comfortably at 75 with power to spare - it runs down the road straight and true, brakes well, handles great, shifts perfectly and the overdrive makes long distance touring a pleasure. The motor has the Weber upgrade with a classic IPD intake and KN filter. The Crane electronic ignition means no more points to look after. The undercarriage shows an IPD swaybar, Bilstein shocks and a new exhaust mated to an IPD header, Floorpans and rockers are all original and just as nice as you'd want to find them, a standout example of Volvo's venerable Amazon series.
