Prepares program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or other electronic transfer methods, to control movement of machine tools along proper cutting paths. Prepares geometric layouts and instruction sheets to show proper setup of machine, sequence of operations, selection of cutting tools, cutting paths, machine speeds and feeds.
Assists with machine setups as needed. Prepares these programs for both in-house machine tools and outside burning vendors. Provides support and diagnostic assistance for both. Updates programs to reflect drawing revisions or changes in manufacturing procedure Prepares layouts of complex
details or nested items to provide Manufacturing Engineering with proper dimensions of parts. Responsible for maintaining a backup of all N. C. programs and offsite storage of backup data.
Proofreads burn packages created by Manufacturing Engineering for completeness and correctness. Designs special fixtures or tooling to increase shop productivity or improve quality as required. Must have good understanding of machining process and tooling concepts. Other Manufacturing Engineering tasks and special projects as required. Assists other department personnel as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education Associate's degree (A. A. ) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of 5-7 year(s) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
