DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties and Responsibilities This is skilled work in several trade areas in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor II-SES, the incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day activties and operations of the general services department. This individual will be responsible for general maintenance and repair duties at all Broward County Health Department (BCHD)

buildings in Broward County to include owned, rented, shared, or leased properties.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting and identifying facility problems. Performing inspections or diagnosing facility or equipment problems, including but not limited to structures or materials to identify the causes of errors, problems, defects, and determining the type of tools and solution(s) required. This position is responsible for repairing, servicing, aligning, adjusting, installing, modifying, assembling, preparing and fixing work assignments. This position is responsible for communicating and updating the status of facility services requests in a timely manner.

The incumbent has access to BCHD facilities on weekends and before/after hours to respond to emergencies and for services by program offices within the BCHD. This position is responsible to assist maintenance mechanics identify problems, assist in repairs and supply and provide materials needed to accomplish their task. This position will ensure all maintenance mechanics have the necessary safety tools and supplies needed to perform their assigned tasks in a safe manor. This position is also responsible to create and assign work orders and follow up with work orders that were closed to ensure the work was performed in a professional manor.

Lastly, in the absence of the maintenance supervisor this position is responsible to take over all responsibilities and duties until the supervisor returns to work or a vacant position is fill again. Performs minor repairs, replaces light switches, ballasts, fuses, and performs other electrical work. Installs, maintains and repairs Electric motors, generators and related electrical and mechanical equipment Installs, maintains and repairs valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers and other sanitary fixtures. Maintains and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment.

Operates power lathes, drill presses, threading machines, circular saws and grinding machines. Performs a variety of brick, cement and carpentry work. Cleans and replaces worn parts on a variety of equipment. Patching and painting interior walls, unclogging sinks, sewer lines and toilets, and other minor repair tasks. Cleaning areas, to include but not limited to carpets, floors and walls throughout BCHD building and properties. The incumbent has access to BCHD facilities on weekends and before/after hours and is on-call to respond to security, emergencies, vaccine and for services requested/required by program offices within the BCHD.

The position possesses keys, alarm codes, and door lock combinations for each facility. Incumbent will be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days as required and will always exhibit diligent safety and security measures. Monitors operational functions to meet specific measurable service objectives and program indicators to assure compliance with BCHD operational goals. Participates in incident command activation/ deactivation, mobilization/demobilization, supply and distribution within the logistics section during any all-hazard event.

Meets with Community Manager daily to report on the status of all scheduled maintenance work, notifying the manager of any hazardous conditions and recommended solutions. Issues resident rule reminders and violation notices; follows-up as needed. Assists Community Manager with aspects of the capital expenditure program, including reviewing budget variances as needed.
