I BE DOING? As a Construction Materials Testing Technician in the Dover, DE office, you will directly play an integral role in the success of our organization.
As part of this team, you will work independently and in collaboration with our knowledgeable, dynamic staff and on a wide variety of land development and construction projects. The key responsibilities will include: Field observations at jobsites in the region. Sampling and testing of construction materials. Preparing accurate daily logs that outline your inspections and results of the test you performed on construction materials. The construction materials you will be working with include soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel.
Daily communication with PM or Operations Manager regarding project progress or other pertinent communication by the contractor. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS? Reliable vehicle for field work, valid driver's license, and satisfactory driving record. Must meet pre-employment requirements. Ability to lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds (soil and concrete samples, nuclear gauges, other equipment) Ability to work in all outdoor climates and mobility over various terrain. Attention to detail and quality, while adhering to all safety requirements.
Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Use of company provided tablet and working knowledge of MS Office programs. Ability to perform basic math and use measurement tools. With training, the ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Calls on existing customers to determine adequacy of service; listens to and resolves service complaints. Visually inspects and listens to machines to identify causes of malfunctions; dismantles machines to gain access to problem area. Inspects parts to detect wear, misalignment or other problems; removes and replaces worn or defective parts; repairs broken parts; realigns and adjusts components; tests machine operation following repair.
Reviews inventory and orders parts; ships and receives machines and equipment; maintains equipment inventory. Sets up and operates mechanical equipment and small hand tools (e. g. drills, grinders welding torches) for machine and equipment repair. Maintains clean and safe work environment; performs job safely. Consistently demonstrates support of the department by striving for excellence. Contributes to the team; exhibits professionalism with customers, fellow employees and others.
