Sciences at University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) welcomes applications for a Visiting Instructor for the 2023-2024 academic year.

This role is a full-time visiting post with a maximum 4-4 teaching load, with possible renewal at the end of the year based on positive performance in teaching and service.

Teaching load is adjustable pending on teaching and service needs in the department. A successful candidate will teach both in-person and online a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses serving majors and non-majors in the Department. These courses may include but are not limited to Introduction to Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Determinants of Health,

Health Promotion, and Health Policy. The successful candidate will also contribute to the Department through participation in Department, College, and University committees and events, advising undergraduate students, and assisting with recruitment activities.

Research efforts are not required. Teaching and research in the summer months are possible. The appointment is expected to begin January 2024 or September 2024. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Health Information Management (MSHIM), and Doctor in Science (Sc D) in Public Health. The department faculty are dedicated educators, experienced practitioners,

and highly productive, federally funded investigators.

The faculty are active in various areas of research including health informatics and service research, population health surveillance, policy/program evaluations, community-based health promotion, aging, infectious diseases, health equity, epidemiology, omics, biostatistics, and big data analytics. The annual research expenditure (extramurally funded) exceeded $4.83 million in 2022-2023.
