Implement appropriate requirements of the Vermont Licensing regulations. Keep parents and families informed about the center through newsletters, e-mail, and other written and oral communication. Help develop and sustain safe, high-quality development and learning environments for children. Keep informed of current issues in the field of Early Childhood Education and maintain own professional development, including a minimum of 15 hours of training per year (as
defined by the Vermont Early Childhood Program Licensing Regulations) and keep current pediatric first aid and infant and child CPR certification.
Licensed Educators must follow AOE regulations regarding maintaining professional development and standards to keep an active license. Maintain a safe, secure environment for children, staff, and visitors, including knowledge of emergency procedures. Accept children unconditionally, their personalities, needs, and ways in which they communicate, and help them develop without judgment. Maintain play resources and other materials with the assistance of the staff team. Set and maintain established expectations for children.
Promote an environment that values diversity and celebrates cultural, linguistic, gender, and other individual differences in people. Participate in staff meetings, extracurricular activities, and in-service training. Serve as a resource for families. Hold individual parent conferences at least twice a year. Preschool educators keep up with and maintain portfolios for children using Teaching Strategies Gold and meet deadlines provided by AOE and area school districts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: The Special Educator functions as part of the treatment team and is responsible for educating and the supervision of students well in school. Special Education services to youth as assigned. The Special Educator will share the schedule with the Academic Director weekly.
Complete service tracking logs on a weekly basis. Provide draft IEP no more than 10 days prior to the IEP meeting to the Academic Director. Direct all LEA contacts to the Academic Director Participation in mandated and assigned professional training offered in the program. Score IEPs Provide a monthly update of what each student is working on for their monthly report. Participate in staff meetings as required. Maintain students' confidentiality at all times, report all pertinent information to supervisor. Pursue appropriate channels of communication Understand the administrative structure, chain of command and program philosophy of VPI.
Requests for time off should be approved 2 weeks prior and time should be requested in Paycor. Appropriately represent VPI to the community, students' parents and outside agencies. Follow all company policies and procedures.
