DAY-TO-DAY In this civil engineering position, you are critical to both the completion of our work and the safety of the drivers in the community. You work alongside new engineers, offering guidance and advice as you create picture directions for building highways. Attentive to detail, you use CAD software to design elements for roadways, intersections, and interchanges, ensuring all plans are safe and cost-effective.

After finishing the plans, you create detailed instructions and diagrams for the construction crews to follow. If a design needs to be changed, you quickly adjust the plans to be more appropriate while still adhering to set guidelines.

The search seeks candidates in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the areas of (1) foundational research enabling the development, evaluation, and application of AI in cybersecurity, networks, communications, and information sciences; (2) supervised, unsupervised, generative, and reinforcement machine learning methods

with applicability in areas such as cybersecurity, networks, communications, and information sciences. Candidates focusing in cybersecurity and/or communications with multidisciplinary interests that explore connections with topics or fields such as biology, healthcare, mathematics, statistics, physics, nanotechnology, chip design, advanced manufacturing, software security, and autonomous, computer, cyber-physical, and energy systems, are highly encouraged.

The ECE Department has active undergraduate and graduate programs in electrical engineering, computer engineering and cybersecurity (including a new BS in Cybersecurity Engineering degree), and a diverse portfolio of research in the areas related to artificial intelligence including machine learning, data science, cybersecurity, computer engineering, communications, signal processing, and controls. As of October 2023, faculty in ECE and the Department of Computer and Information Sciences share approximately 11,000 sqft at UD's new Fin Tech Innovation Hub, bringing together research groups in areas of machine learning, AI, cybersecurity, and high-performance computing.

Applicants should have a Ph. D. in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field at the time of hire. Candidates are expected to show exceptional promise for, or a proven record of, cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research achievements, as well as commitment for excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. They will be expected to secure external sources of funding to develop a strong research program and to achieve a position of leadership in their field of study.
