The Manufacturing Engineer is primarily responsible for support of manufacturing activities associated with the production and shipment of Liquified Natural Gas Coil Wound Heat Exchangers (LNG CWHEs) and other miscellaneous
equipment at the Port Manatee Manufacturing Plant. Specifically, the support activities expected of this position center on the safe manufacturing, assembly, transportation, specialty tooling necessary to build large LNG CWHEs.
This includes managing schedules and budgets that meet requirements of the project and plant. Required Skills / Abilities: Support the production team by providing engineering drawings of the setup, transportation, assembly of LNG CWHEs and miscellaneous equipment. Specify the use of special tools, fixtures and fabricating equipment required for manufacturing. Ensure all tooling and related work processes are safe for the intended use/application. Manage the
tooling activities and budgets associated with each manufacturing project.
This includes performing project budget forecasting, issuing production orders, controlling spending within budget, and ensuring activities happen according to schedule. Develop work instructions and training information for any new tooling or processes introduced to the production area. This includes ensuring all safety requirements are met. Work with LNG and other applicable engineering functions prior to release of designs and throughout the manufacturing process to improve overall efficiencies and ensure manufacturability of the equipment design. Support the Plant Maintenance and Special Projects with building/facility projects as needed.
Lead or participate in CI activities directed at cost reductions and/or cycle time reductions. Engage in occasional domestic and international travel to our customer LNG sites. Serving as a mechanical engineering lead on equipment offloading, supervising aftermarket field service teams, equipment inspections and repairs. Education and Licensing Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar (manufacturing, civil, structural) engineering degree required. 3+ years of experience as a manufacturing and/or mechanical engineer.
Recent CDP roll offs are encouraged to apply. Proficiency with 3D CAD programs and MS Office required. Must be able to manage workload for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Motivated self-starter who can work with limited supervision. Ability to lead hands on work with welders & skilled trades. Working in a positive and professional manner to accomplish scheduled tasks. Demonstrated ability to lead and work within multifunctional teams. Effective communication skills written & verbal. Aptitude for developing creative and practical engineering solutions to the challenges associated with manufacturing large engineer-to-order equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency with Solid Works. Working knowledge and experience with the following: Overhead cranes, mobile cranes, lifting, rigging, safe working practices. Hydraulic jacking, Goldhofer or SPMT heavy transport. Metal machining, manual or CNC (milling / turning / drilling). CNC plasma cutting and programming. Metal forming operations (plate rolling, press-brake forming, bump forming). CI Yellow or Green Belt training. Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues. - Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency
services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
- Drive projects with moderate complexity. - Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures. - Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and responsible for working with Facility Manager (FM) to set team culture. - Responsible for drills that are building specific and identifying team/individual areas for improvement. Also responsible for working with FM to help improve on the identified weakness. - Create and deploy ensure compliance for new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, and vendor support teams.
- Establish building performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance. - May assist in the design and build out of new facilities. - Work with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency. - Respond to out of hours emergency calls – second level escalation point for Data Center facilities related issues / failures.
