This position will perform sustaining engineering activities on current product packaging and packaging processes with priorities

When applicable, this role will support new product development teams by acting as an extended team member to provide the design, development and verification testing of new product packaging and assist in qualification of new packaging processes.
Primary products to be supported/packaged are flexible IV solution containers ranging from 25m L to 6L in size, glass vials/bottles, and a variety of sterile and sterile fluid path disposable sets/devices. The position will include exposure to several types of packaging including flexible and rigid films, HDPE and foil pouches, corrugated design and protective
packaging, thermoforming, flow-wrap, form/fill/seal, printing technologies and other related packaging processes.
The position will require travel to the manufacturing plants and packaging suppliers. This position will be hybrid with 2-3 days a week on-site in Round Lake, IL. What you'll be doing Lead the planning and execution of packaging projects for project types including Quality/CAPA, Regulatory Compliance, Supplier Notices of Change, Cost Savings, and New Product Introductions at various domestic and international manufacturing facilities. Lead projects with increased complexity and scope and effectively manage numerous projects with minimal assistance and supervision.
May lead a large scale program or several small projects with complex features. Develop protocols for testing and engage in Change Control activities collaborating with multiple functional groups, including manufacturing plants and suppliers in a team environment to implement packaging changes. Approve new materials and systems, studying and recommending techniques to improve and/or cost reduce existing products/processes, investigating new sources for packaging materials. Create packaging material specifications, associated drawings, and packaging procedural specifications to support the product/packaging configuration.
Plan, schedule, and lead multi-functional team supporting packaging projects to achieved project objectives. Generate cost savings ideas by recommending new materials or design modifications and resolve packaging issues. Perform financial planning and assists in the analysis to justify project approval. Expected to help establish goals and strategy direction for the department. In addition to their own responsibilities, they will be required to share their experience/knowledge with less experienced engineers in an effort to help mentor them with project assignments and may supervise one or more engineers and/or technicians.
What you'll bring Must have experience or advanced training and demonstrate proficiency in packaging materials and processes, problem analysis and resolution, statistical methods, and design of experiments. Proficient in applicable change control and development methodology and processes.
