North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists. THIS IS AN ANTICIPATED VACANCY. This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as Maintenance Mechanic. T his position will collaborate with each section within the state facilities and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail oriented. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include: Locate, repair/replace all plumbing problems. Examples: remove porcelain toilets and replace with stainless steel penal type toilets.
Repair/replace penal type flush valves. Replace all gate valves with ball valves. Repair/ replace all water coolers. Unstop sewer lines from sink drains to 2" 4" and 6" sewer lines. Be able to use a sink auger, K50, K60, 1500 sewer machine along with a 3" jet machine. Repair/replace broken underground cast iron pipe. Repair all roof drains. Repair/replace all pool pumping equipment, maintain irrigation well and sprinkler system. Maintain all hot water heaters(gas&electric). And repair other plumbing related equipment.
Locate repair or install electrical circuits, high and low voltage and electronic. Examples: wire pulling, place ment of conduit transformer installation. Replacement of and or all parts. Maintain, repair and install all types of machinary, appliances, electronic equipment, bulbs. All other duties related to electrician position. Repair or install items related to heating and refrigeration. Some examples: locate refrigeration leaks and recharge units. Trouble shoot refrigeration or heating unit and replace necessary parts. Perform routine maintenance on equipment as necessary.
Other related duties assigned to refrigeration mechanic. Repair, install or build items related to wood, glass, or masonary. Some examples: repair doors, install or finish sheet rock, build shelves, partitions, replace windows, lay brick or block, concrete work. Other related duties assigned to carpenter. Serves in an on-call rotation. Performs other related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work. Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.
Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work. Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators and other mechanical equipment. Ability to take accurate measurements. Ability to follow instructions. Minimum Qualifications: Two years’ experience in building maintenance, plumbing, electrical or mechanical; or vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours. Must be physically able to climb multiple flights of stairs, climb a ladder, work from heights, bend at the waist, kneel and crouch, able to work near loud noises and electrical equipment, work in basements, tight spaces and on rooftop.
