Responsible for the direction and control of improving ongoing efficient operations of all departments. Directs the operation to meet the total business plan from order to delivery inclusive of procurement of raw materials, scheduling, manufacturing, shipment, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities also include managing all technical issues including capital and expense projects, preventative maintenance,
building maintenance, EHS compliance, and quality of manufactured product.
JOB FUNCTIONS Ensures a safe environment for all employees and visitors by developing and implementing a comprehensive safety and emergency response program, effective training of all employees, and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. Manage and direct the activities of department managers by developing and reviewing operating plans, establishing objectives to ensure safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and scheduling goals. Coordinates plant and division/corporate resources to resolve material, process, and production problems in the plant. Implements annual operating plans and ensures timely resolution of deviations from plan to meet the financial objectives of the plant.
Directs and organizes all plant departments to ensure adequate supply of high quality products, implements quality manufacturing processes and control programs to meet or exceed customer specifications. Responsible for developing effective plant operations, optimizes production schedules, continually improves production efficiencies, scrap rates and product quality throughout the operation and supports Lean and Six Sigma projects. Provides leadership and direction to all plant personnel.
Contributes to the overall growth and development of the company through effective communications with sales and technical groups and provides manufacturing expertise for the successful development of new products and processes. Promotes positive labor relations inside and outside the plant by ensuring consistent application of company policies, provides leadership to managers and supervisors. The Manufacturing Excellence Director is responsible for designing, deploying and implementing the division-wide daily management system to reduce unscheduled equipment downtime and improve overall process reliability.
The candidate will work closely with manufacturing sites, executing and sustaining the reliability maintenance and engineering plans and programs within the foodservice division. This position is responsible for leading division-wide continuous improvement plans and cost reduction efforts. Design, deploy and implement
a daily management production system - leverage, scale and audit to all foodservice sites Develop, implement, improve and manage new and existing equipment predictive and preventive maintenance programs Lead a team of process technicians by using data to identify performance gaps at manufacturing sites and deploying the team based on subject matter expertise to assist the plants with a formal problem solving process Analyze downtime to identify chronic/sporadic failures and lead reliability improvement efforts Lead RCFE (Root Cause Failure Elimination) process to establish compliant trigger points and identify root cause/implementclosed loop corrective actions to prevent recurrence Troubleshoot chronic issues and develop action plans to minimize impact on equipment availability Develop, implement and utilize key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance Review and critique outage and PM execution to identify obstacles and recommend improvements Drive long range reliability planning with senior leadership communication and education Make periodic rounds through all Regions to look for early signs of problems and address Build and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels in the organization Maintain an active, collaborative and strategic relationship with Plant leadership on priority development, EE development, and organizational needs Support SAP CMMS PM Module implementation and associated Qlik-view development Background/Experience Strong experience in reliability engineering, root cause and failure analyses (FMEA) 7 - 10 years of direct supervisory/manager responsibility for both hourly and salaried technical resources 10 - 12 years of engineering and maintenance experience Education Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred Experience as Six Sigma Black-belt or Continuous Improvement/LEAN experience preferred Skills Strong communication and follow-up skills, leadership skills-relationship building, and group facilitation skills.
