A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Experience: None required. Age: The candidate shall be at least 20-1/2 years of age at date of application. License or Certificate: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents
must successfully complete the certified POST Basic Academy course of instruction.
Application Process The examination process will consist of: Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position. Written examination or Pellet B score. All candidates will be required to take a written exam, unless a passing Pellet B score is attached to the application by the close of the recruitment. Pellet B scores can also be emailed to le List - All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
Department Panel Interviews - Candidates on the eligible list may be selected to interview with the department leadership team. Captains Interviews - The best qualified candidates will be invited for a Captains interview. Polygraph Exam - Selected candidates will be invited to take a polygraph exam. Background Investigation - Selected candidates will be invited to complete comprehensive background investigation process. Police Chief - Final candidates will be invited to interview with the Police Chief.
Medical and Psychological Evaluations - One or more candidates may be provided a conditional offer of employment.
