Underwriter - ID, reporting to the Director, Underwriting. This posting is open to internal and external candidates. The person in this position needs to reside in Boise/Meridian area and able to work in the local office based on a hybrid in office/home schedule.
Responsibilities Perform quantitative and qualitative risk analysis of new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium. Manage a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Work with a sense of urgency by prioritizing, organizing and managing workloads. Provide a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and
renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium. Use Excel, system-based tools, and new technology in account evaluation. Individual contributor role working with a shared assistant.
Work extended hours during peak renewal seasons. Build the WCF brand and long-term agency and account relationships. Qualifications At least two years of workers compensation underwriting experience. At least two years of experience with Commercial Package Policies and/or Businessowners policies, Commercial Auto, and Umbrella underwriting. Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals, rules and classifications. Familiarity with ISO forms and rules. Experience with apartments/condominiums
and/or hospitality businesses preferred CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred.
Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required. Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written. someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Senior Level California Underwriter. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Director, Underwriting in large commercial. This candidate may reside in or near California, Boise, Idaho, or Sandy, Utah.
If residing outside of California, this candite must be willing to travel to California about once a month for a week or less. Responsibilities A senior underwriter applies sound underwriting principles and risk analysis to evaluate new and renewal accounts with high-level risk and coverage complexity. This person manages a book of business to achieve premium growth, retention, and profitability. The senior
underwriter also meets with assigned agencies and producers to review progress to business goals and with accounts, as needed. The senior underwriter provides exemplary, timely, and personalized customer service and serves as a knowledge resource for internal and external customers.
Some limited overnight travel is required. Qualifications At least three years of multi-line commercial field underwriting experience with an emphasis on workers compensation. Excellent knowledge and understanding of WCIRB workers compensation manuals, guidelines, rating elements, other rating bureaus and the competitive landscape. Experience with loss sensitive rating programs. CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications
