Work Location: This is a hybrid position, with onsite work requirements as informed by business needs. This position reports onsite on the first day of employment for orientation and on average 1 to 2 days per week in support of the facility-based programs (subject to change based on business needs). Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to meet workplace reporting requirements.
The primary onsite location is West Point Treatment Plant (1400 Discovery Park Blvd, Seattle, WA 98199).
Work Schedule: This position is not covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible. This full-time position works a 40-hour work week, with flexible work schedules available. Write and maintain physical functional descriptions, control strategies, control options, alarm information, and troubleshooting. Ensure that the documents are clear, concise, and technically accurate. Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts to increase users' understanding.
Manage the content and format of the operations Share Point / Intranet platform. This platform is the primary resource for approximately 600 employees in retrieving industrial Operations and Maintenance guidance. We would like you to have experience and knowledge in the following: Bachelor's degree in technical writing, communications, business, or closely allied field Two years of professional technical writing experience in an industrial setting for operations and maintenance groups; or a combination of experience and education that meet the requirement Skill in the use of personal computers, word processors and database management software.
Experience working with industrial processes and in an industrial environment Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering specifications, engineering drawings, charts, wiring diagrams and schematics. Demonstrated knowledge of the publications process Demonstrated knowledge of communications principles, methods, and materials Demonstrated knowledge of research methods and techniques Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills Ability to document field conditions in an industrial environment Desirable (or willingness and ability to learn) Be skilled in taking the initiative to identify improved or more-effective communications strategies.
Possess a Technical Writing and Editing (TWE) Certificate Skill in interpreting and evaluating manuals and catalogs. Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Frame Maker, Adobe In Design, Share Point. Necessary Requirements - Valid Washington State driver's license (WDL) or the ability to obtain a WDL or the ability to travel in a timely manner to locations throughout King and Snohomish Counties that may not be served by public transportation.
