Your Accountabilities: Moves, sets up and adjusts equipment and selects rod to perform work assigned in a safe, efficient, and high-quality way. Prepares surface to be welded; burns, fits, tacks, and welds as necessary to complete repair. Finishes weld by removing slag and grinding when necessary. Reads drawings to ensure all parts are being assembled per drawing arrangements. Uses the proper
weld gages to check all welds that have been performed per drawing arrangements.
Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner to ensure a safe work place. Assists in the training and mentoring of on the job training with new hires in the weld department. Position Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred; may consider equivalent course work with proven experience for the right individual. Experience: 1+ years' experience within welding metals within a heavy industry manufacturing environment. Certifications: AWS Certified in FCAW, GMAW or SMAW helpful, or willing to obtain. Certifications are held per AWS D 15.1. Ability to obtain NDT-VT level 2 certification to inspect welds prior to releasing the part from that department.
Functional Skills: Must have a good knowledge of welding techniques, inspection, compliance, and safety; good ability to read and interpret blueprints, dimensions, and production orders with an ability to use/read inspection tools and gages. Strong reading and good math skills are required with an excellent attention to detail and an ability to prioritize work orders to meet production goals. This role also requires solid problem-solving skills and an ability to operate Forklifts and/or Overhead Cranes as needed for the role.
Technology Skills: Good PC skills Language Skills: Good reading, writing and verbal communication skills needed to train and mentor others.
