Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children - better known as the WIC program - serves to safeguard the health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating including breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health care.

JOB SUMMARY: The Breastfeeding Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of all breastfeeding education and support provided to all participants. Successful completion of State and Local approved training and continuing education must occur within timeframes designated

by the State and Local agencies. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Breastfeeding Coordinator leads the agency's plan to promote and support breastfeeding as the preferred method of feeding.

The Breastfeeding Coordinator provides assistance, education and support to breastfeeding women with advanced lactation concerns and monitors other professional staff providing this level of support. The Breastfeeding Coordinator provides technical assistance to WIC staff and other professionals in the community educating on evidenced-based breastfeeding practices. The Breastfeeding Coordinator maintains an inventory of current breastfeeding resources and educational materials. The Breastfeeding Coordinator works

with WIC staff to ensure the agency is a supportive breastfeeding environment per state policy.

The Breastfeeding Coordinator ensures that all WIC staff complete required breastfeeding trainings within required timeframes. The Breastfeeding Coordinator ensures that all WIC staff are aware of their role in breastfeeding support. The Breastfeeding Coordinator will write breastfeeding lesson plans/individual nutrition education sessions. The Breastfeeding Coordinator evaluates appropriateness of breastfeeding-related pamphlets/ fact sheets and audiovisuals for use in the Missouri WIC Program, according to established criteria. The Breastfeeding Coordinator p lans and evaluates breastfeeding interventions implemented by the agency using various health/ nutrition data available from the state agency and other reputable sources.

The Breastfeeding Coordinator manages the agency's breast pump program. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS; Must meet one of the following qualifications: Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and Licensed Dietitian (LD) in the state of Missouri; or Registered Nurse (RN); or Experience with obstetric or pediatric patients preferred. Verification statement from a Dietetic Internship program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND); or Verification statement from a Didactic Program in Dietetics accredited by ACEND; or Minimum: Bachelor's degree in the field of nutrition or closely related field from an accredited college or university.

Degree must include or be supplemented by at least 15 hours in foods and nutrition including at least one course in diet therapy or medical nutrition therapy and one course in community nutrition or life cycle nutrition. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or completion of a state approved course in lactation management.

In addition, the EZMO Transportation Coordinator will place an emphasis on assisting clients with mental health needs specifically focusing on helping them access transportation to and from their appointments. MAJOR TASKS: Attend required trainings, webinars, conference calls and conferences to gain knowledge and support statewide mobility coordination and

service. Network and collaboration with local or state organizations/associations working on issues addressing mobility for all and/or social determinants of health barriers, one of which is access.

Develop and engage community members in outreach and network opportunities to gather data on local and regional access barriers and solutions across the service area with a minimum of ten in-person gatherings. Identify best practices, resources, activities, and next steps in a monthly report and weekly volunteer reimbursements. Develop resources to conduct and maintain ongoing transportation volunteer recruitment, vetting, training and other needs to improve transportation infrastructure.

Provide transportation coordination and scheduling as needed, support local mobility efforts, and act as a community liaison to increase awareness, collaboration, and knowledge.

Assist JFCAC Innovators and Community Service Director in finding sustainable funding for transportation services to support local and federal initiatives. Assist clients with mental health needs- specifically focusing on helping them access transportation to and from their appointments. Obtain and Manage data associated with volunteers and clients participating with EZMO Transportation as determined to be collected by goals and parameters of workplan activities as it relates to transportation needs.

Utilize appropriate information systems as determined necessary for volunteer management, client data tracking and reporting. EDUCATION AND EXPIERENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in transportation, social services, business, or related field and/or a combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted. Proficient collaboration skills both internal and external stakeholder skills. Experience in related field such as working with elderly, disabled, and/or low-income individuals preferred. Conduct weekly 90 minute home visits with pregnant mothers, infants, and/or children birth-three years old and their families. Directly provide education, coaching and support to pregnant women and their families in the areas of prenatal education, fetal development, nutrition, risks of alcohol, drugs, and smoking, labor and delivery, postpartum recovery, parental depression, infant care,

safe sleep practices and the benefits of breastfeeding. Ensure the strategies, skills, support, and procedures are delivered in accordance with HSPPS, program policies, philosophies, and goals.

Provide appropriate supports and resources for emotional well-being, nurturing, responsive caregiving, and father engagement during pregnancy and early childhood. Collaborate with the pregnant woman and her family to ensure and/or facilitate obtaining an ongoing source of continuous, accessible health care provided by a health care professional and, as appropriate, health insurance coverage. Facilitate access to comprehensive services that include, but are not limited to nutritional counseling,

food assistance, oral health care, mental health/wellness services, substance abuse, prevention and/or treatment, and emergency shelter/housing.

Engage enrolled pregnant women and their families in discussions about program options, plan for the infant's transition to program enrollment, and provide support to the family during the transition process, where appropriate. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate group sessions for pregnant women and their families. Newborn/Infant: Provide a newborn visit within two weeks after the infant's birth to offer support and identify family needs. Directly coach and support the parent in developing skills to have positive, meaningful interactions with their child Facilitate parent/child interactions using evidence-based curriculum to support the infant's development in all educational domains Conduct initial developmental screenings and ensure ongoing developmental and health backssments within 45 days of the infant's birth.

Internal: Establish family goals, establish action steps/plan, and document progress for each child and/or family in meeting the goals contained in their agreement. Complete and monitor all family progress and necessary documentation as required. Maintain timely and accurate data entry and/or documentation Provide resources and referrals as needed for individual families, connecting families in ways that will support their family goals.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation of home visits, socialization experiences, and other relevant activities as required by HSPPS. Participate in professional development as required. Perform other duties as assigned External: Recruit throughout the community and host recruitment events. Maintain professional relationship and/or contact with local service providers, organizations and/or agencies who provide resources to families. Maintain confidentiality of family records and/or all program information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS; High school diploma or GED required At least 2 years documented work experience in early childhood development, attachment and/or maternal/infant health required. Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Parents as Teachers (PAT) certification or social work, human services, family services, and/or counseling credential preferred. Experience working with low-income families, child care, health or education preferred. OTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to problem solve, handle crisis, and work with families and children of various cultures and low-income backgrounds.

Ability to work primarily in the homes with families residing in high-risk communities. Ability to establish positive working relationships with families, agency staff, and community members. Physically able to stand for long periods of time as well as stooping, squatting, running, and lifting an estimated 50 lbs.
