THE COUNTIES ARE: Sacramento, Contra Costa The COVID Control Branch (CCB) coordinates and provides guidance on statewide COVID-19 case-reporting, surveillance, epidemiologic investigations, laboratory testing, and on clinical and infection control issues. The Branch works closely with other Teams to help produce daily reports

for CDPH leadership and other stakeholders; these are often fast moving and changing as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves. The CCB works closely with local health departments, other state teams and agencies, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on COVID-19 surveillance and response.

It is also poised to expand to other epidemics as they may emerge. Provides leadership and technical support for the design, development, implementation, and analysis of complex COVID-19 epidemiology studies, including but not limited to trends in disease severity, hospitalizations, and death. Maintains knowledge of CDPH and federal COVID-19 data sources and utilization tools. backsses and

fulfills needs for updates, expansion, and/or development of complex data analysis methods used by CCB staff.

Provides subject matter expertise and advises the development and implementation of data visualization platforms, such as dashboards. Executes timely and accurate analysis and maintenance of visualizations using both internal and external data sources. Leads the collaboration and cross-cutting activities between Sections and Branches necessary for comprehensive respiratory virus surveillance. Local Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Program Support Section, the incumbent collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team that implements local and statewide maternal morbidity and mortality surveillance reviews to improve the health and wellbeing of mothers, infants, children, adolescents, and children and youth with special health care needs and their families.

In addition, this position supports the CDPH/MCAH mission by developing and implementing activities of the California Momnibus Act (Chapter 449, Statutes of 2021), which requires CDPH to establish the California Pregnancy-Associated Review Committee (PARC) effective August 1, 2022, to conduct an in-depth review

of all pregnancy-related deaths, analyze common causes of severe maternal morbidity (SMM), and make recommendations on strategies to prevent maternal mortality and morbidity.

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Health Program Manager (HPM) II, Chief of the Maternal Mortality/Morbidity and Local MCAH Program Support Section. The Health Program Specialist (HPS) II functions as a highly skilled, technical prevention specialist providing guidance, project coordination, and subject matter expertise. The HPS II is responsible for highly complex assignments that backss, develop, monitor, and evaluate program activities pertaining to maternal case reviews. The incumbent functions
