for a Geologist to support Environmental, Civil Works and Military Projects. Duties/Responsibilities: Perform project tasks in accordance with the USEPA CERCLA process, including but not limited to, Preliminary backssments, Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Proposed Plans, Decision Documents, and Remedial Actions.

Performs both office and field services which involve conventional environmental, geological and hydrogeologic practices but may involve a variety of complex features, field work, and working with other disciplines. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates a variety of project tasks. Oversight of field crews as needed. Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Geology, or similar field required; Masters degree in Geology or similar field a plus. Five years of related experience required. Current Professional Geologist (PG) registration required.

Required Skills/Abilities: Strong technical writing and communication skills required. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, should be willing to perform technical lead roles. Must be proactive with strong initiative and follow through, detail oriented, and capable of working both independently and in a team environment. Experience with interpretation of contamination in groundwater, soil, sediment, etc. a plus. Experience related to environmental or geotechnical

sampling procedures. Travel related to meetings with clients, stakeholders, research, and field work will be required.

Experience with the following computer programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Auto CAD, Microsoft Project, Arc GIS, geologic modeling software). Physical and Security Requirements: Must be a U. S. Citizen. Must have the ability to obtain security clearance. Must meet HTRW medical requirements. Must pass a preemployment physical, background check, and drug screen. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time to carry and handle field equipment. Physically able to travel to field sites and traverse large areas by foot. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Skills, Attributes, and Experience Requirements U. S. citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance. Knowledge of fundamental principles, concepts and techniques in specified field of science. Possess the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks under general supervision and guidance. Understanding of environmental sampling protocols and laboratory analysis. Knowledge of environmental regulations (e. g. CERCLA, RCRA, etc. ). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Outlook) required. Ability to attain and maintain Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training under OSHA standard 29 CFR Part 1910.120.

Ability to wear a respirator and/or airline. Ability to attain site-specific radiological worker training. Skills, Attributes, and Experience Desired Familiarity with applicable Kentucky statutes (monitoring well installation, variances, etc. ) and federal (DOE, EPA, etc. ) codes and regulations. Experience with remedial sampling and interpretation of sampling results. Ability to obtain Professional Geologist licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Summary of Working Conditions Works in office and field environments at DOE's Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant and surrounding properties.

Field work will occur as schedules demand approximately 40% of time on an annual basis) and will entail performing geologic studies, environmental sampling, and logging subsurface lithology from soil and monitoring well borings. Field work may occur during all months of the year, including exposure to summer and winter temperatures. Field work will involve potential exposure to heavy equipment movement hazards and potential exposure to environmental media contaminated with hazardous chemicals/solvents and/or radioactive materials if safety procedures are not followed.

Work will involve sedentary to moderate work. Occasional activities may require lifting up to 50 pounds and performing repetitive activities such as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
