Data management, data analyses including population modeling, report writing, and public presentations are essential to this position. Both positions will also deal extensively with land management agencies, sportsmen and the general public. Battle Mountain position is responsible for areas in Lander and Eureka counties; Ely/Eureka position is responsible for areas primarily in Eureka, White Pine, Nye, Lincoln and Elko counties.

Battle Mountain position is also partially responsible for developing and administering habitat improvement projects and conducting technical review of federal land use planning documents. The Ely/Eureka position has responsibilities for population management, habitat management and other duties associated with big game and upland game species, including sage-grouse.
