Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary Oversees construction and improvement projects in the transmission system. residences, academic & administrative buildings, and the data center. The LAN-E group currently supports over 178,000 network ports and 17,000 Wi-Fi access points.
Network design ranges from " green-field" designs for new multi-building constructions to single lab expansions. Network support is provided through close working relationships with the SUNet Backbone group, the IT Operations Center, the Installation & Maintenance technicians, and the Local Network Administrators. The LAN-E team is divided into 3 inter-related and supporting sub-teams. The Res Net team primarily supports the Student Residences. The Academic and Business Systems team primarily supports wired access
in academic buildings and data centers, as well as ISP service to faculty & staff housing.
The Academic Wi-Fi and Greenfield team primarily supports Wi-Fi access to academic buildings, as well as creating and implementing network designs for greenfield (new building) locations. Each sub-team is comprised of 3-4 engineers and a technical lead. CORE DUTIES: • Plan, design, maintain, and implement network access, security, and services. • Manage network projects including developing and documenting technical network designs and project plans and procuring equipment and supplies. • Monitor network for stability and proper configuration. • Develop products internally in accordance with requirements of performance, suitability, maintainability, cost, interoperability, flexibility, and conformance to standards.

Draft and implement a proactive communication plan to advance the CMQCC and CPQCC missions, equity goals and initiatives and program activities. Develop, execute and oversee written communications of moderate complexity, including presentations, quality improvement toolkits, speeches, news stories, web content, talking points, and correspondence and social media posts. Participate in regular meetings of administrative and program leaders, key researchers and staff to create strategic messages for media relations and overall strategies and tactics for facilitating effective external communications.
Assist in preparing content for internal or external newsletters, annual reports and email announcements. Manage, update and oversee the content and posting of material on the CMQCC website. Understand email and digital content distribution. Identify individuals/community groups to attend and/or speak at public meetings or other events. Coordinate media, community or government relations, and ensure logistics and preparations are handled. Build key relationships with other communication leaders across the state to advance key messages and the mission.
