Job Description: Provide representation and outreach to immigration clients in Northern Utah, working out of the Ogden CCS Northern Utah Office.
The attorney who staffs this position is also responsible for serving immigrant victims of crime who qualify to receive services funded by a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant. Responsibilities include: Screen and consult with potential clients to determine eligibility for CCS legal services and VOCA
grant eligibility. Prepare and file applications with the USCIS on behalf of clients and represent clients before the USCIS and the Immigration Court. Visit the domestic violence shelters in Weber and Davis counties to provide outreach about VOCA-funded legal services and screen residents who request immigration legal services.
Coordinate with other nonprofit legal service providers that use a common hotline and referral service. Track and report on client outcomes. Work in collaboration with other CCS staff attorneys and paralegal staff to work on other projects as assigned, this may include offering legal services to migrants seeking asylum.
