The Technical purchasing manager is also responsible for helping to professionalize the site purchasing function for technical purchases at all SGP NA sites. The incumbent will work with site purchasing personnel, plant managers, site engineers and maintenance personnel to analyze and understand the site technical spend and investigate cost reduction/cost avoidance opportunities. The role must also ensure compliance of MRO site purchases with SGC preferred suppliers and drive cost optimization of services & materials through bidding and negotiations, harnessing the most favorable terms regarding quality, service and reliability.

Function as the conduit between SGP sites and the NA corporate purchasing team to ensure optimal benefit of preferred supplier program for SGP. The role must also comply and help to enforce Gobain Corporate & Business purchasing policies and internal control requirements (ICRF). The role will be to work closely with the commercial team and other plant functions as needed. Essential Functions 40IME Develop and manage the purchasing strategy for procurement of capital equipment and services in co-ordination with the North American CAPEX team to ensure compliance with SG Best Practices and internal control requirements.

Develop increased competition and a preferred CAPEX vendor list where possible. Work with plant managers and site Engineering to ensure early involvement in capital projects. Ensure technical specifications are developed, solid and fair bidding processes are followed, and leading competitive country options are considered whenever possible. Review all capital appropriation requests submitted for NA to ensure the entire process meets internal control requirements and that all necessary documentation is included with the request.

Negotiate all applicable CAPEX contracts for NA sites, working with the Legal teams as necessary, ensuring that SGP sites follow corporate requirements. Provide purchasing support as needed throughout and after project completion. 35IME Manage the purchasing and receiving functions at the Wheatfield facility while also providing oversight and guidance for Amherst and Chippawa. Direct and manage the raw material inventory to ensure maximum utilization of assets within divisional financial objectives, including inventory levels. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Populate, maintain, and update product maintenance for millwork products as needed.

This includes lead-time, pricing, weeks of cover, and other replenishment parameters. Create and approve purchase orders to replenish assigned product using a combination of historical trends, current demand, and provided sales forecast. Complete daily review of back ordered purchase orders and take appropriate action to resolve and communicate changes and/or impact to affected branches. Review open and late purchase orders and transfers to ensure all information related to purchase orders and transfers is up-to-date and accurate.

Responsible for negotiating pricing from suppliers on purchased inventory as assigned. Communicate with suppliers on a regular basis regarding open and late purchase orders, lead times, price quotes, and other items as needed. Provide accurate and proactive communication with branches on the status of purchase orders, product, and product supply matters. Assist the Corporate Pricing Manager in the development and maintenance of catalog price pages on assigned product lines. Recommend necessary actions to the Product Manager to ensure a continued flow of materials to meet inventory and sales requirements.

Recommend policies and procedures for purchasing function. Meet standards for quality, fill rates, and inventory turns as periodically established. Provide technical product information to internal parties. Identify best practices and continually review outputs for any necessary process adjustments. Contribute toward training internal resources and best practice methods. Required Skills: Product knowledge of millwork is required. Knowledge of the building materials is preferred.
