Buyer position sets purchasing policy for local buyers and negotiates substantial dollar volume contracts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Prepares purchase orders and places orders for the purchase of goods and services.
Interviews vendors and evaluates their products and capabilities as supplier. Researches product lines, prices, product sources, and other relevant purchasing information. Evaluates research findings and makes independent decisions on procurement matters. Serves as a liaison between vendors and sales representatives. Obtains price quotes form vendors and compares quotes with the specifications and availability of items. Organizes updates and retains product information files and purchase orders records. Reviews contracts for change prior to bid or renewal.
Approves price increase provided for in contracts and makes changes as necessary and appropriate. Interprets and evaluates contract provisions. Reviews orders for completeness, accuracy and compliance with existing policies and procedures. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, increase turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly, to provide quality seamless customer service.
