The External Affairs Grant Writer (EAGW) initiates, plans, and executes all Agency efforts to increase programmatic support and partnerships. This position is accountable for increasing revenue targets that will help to broaden the scope of the Agency's funding sources, and writing grant proposals to grow programmatic reach and impact.
Funding Sources include but are not limited to special events, foundation, corporate and individual giving. The External Affairs Grant Writer will identify new grant opportunities and cultivate relationships to maximize contributions, enhance programmatic outreach, and have primary responsibility for grant identification, writing and drafting grant requests,
tracking, and reporting. The EAGW will develop, implement and oversee a comprehensive strategic advancement plan.
The External Affairs Grant Writer will work as a key member of the External Affairs team to drive growth that achieves CSI mission as well as, program and revenue goals. The EAGW will work closely with the External Affairs Coordinator to support the development of strong written Agency materials including; press releases, promotional collateral, and internal communication. The EAGW will develop a solid foundational understanding of the Agency; past and present, the Early Care and Education industry, and the communities we serve to ensure high-quality messaging and story-telling to achieve the goals of the Agency.
Responsibilities Research and write grant proposals in partnership with the development of new program services and expansions of existing program services. Proactively identify, develop and broaden the scope of the Agency's resources and grant opportunities through strategic relationship building, networking, and social media to enhance the level of service locally and statewide Lead in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic advancement plan Manage the development of community partnerships and produce written and visual materials (i.

Work with the External Affairs Coordinator to provide input for agency marketing materials Maintain a secure database of community partnerships and outreach efforts; assist with data tracking, reporting, and acknowledgment Explore collaborative and partnership opportunities with community members, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and corporations Support the Director of External Affairs in managing an individual cultivation plan to expand and enhance the Agency's outreach efforts Creation of various resource-generating campaigns that support the Agency's overall mission and strategic initiatives Leadership in planning and execution of special events (i.

Identify and help develop relationships with prospective funders. Maintain calendar system to track grant application and report deadlines, record contacts, and correspondence, and acknowledge gifts Review and record all incoming grant-related requests and serves as the initial point of contact. Help maintain donor files and donor database. Assist with grants tracking and reporting requirements. Assist with additional development-related projects as needed. Other Duties as Assigned Research and identify potential donors by researching prospects, reviewing related files, following-up on leads, remaining up-to-date on donor research, analyzing funding reference tools such as annual reports, foundation directories, and IRS 990 forms and more.
Write accurate and interesting inquiries, letters and proposals requesting funds from individual, corporate and foundation prospects. Write acknowledgement letters and reports to corporate and foundation donors. Identify new funders to support programs that align with the organization's strategic and core focus areas. Meet with program staff to determine funding needs and program planning.
Ensure that all submissions and correspondences with foundation and corporate staff are completed on time. Track and monitor proposals, their deadlines, and requirements in database management. Maintain tracking and reminder system for grant, renewal, and report deadlines. Monitor results of written requests, such as proposal acceptance rate, number of requests, and more. Coordinate the efforts of key staff members to ensure that documents are completed by the specified deadlines. Maintain accurate and updated electronic files of donors and prospects including copies of correspondence, proposals, reports, and notes on significant phone conversations or donor visits.
Work in conjunction with administrative and fiscal staff to ensure that corporate and foundation gifts and correspondence are logged on Raiser's Edge. Work in concert with the Marketing, Communications, and Creative Direction team members to support the organization to share its impact through: Preparing content and content calendar for timely and concise postings on social media and website. Creating engaging written and visual content to post. Completing regular content updates including developing infographics or program outcome visualizations to share with funders, internally, and externally.
Assisting with writing and crafting for public relations materials including annual reports, newsletters, press releases, and other publications.
