of Strategic Initiatives, Data, backssment, and Technology (SDAT), the Grant Writer will work with faculty and staff in the design, content, and preparation of sponsored project proposals in accordance with sponsor standards and requirements. The Grant Writer will participate in writing and editing narrative sections, particularly those that require technical expertise and awareness of funding trends and sponsors' strategic priorities, and preparing required proposal components like biosketches, facilities, data management plan, and other resources.

The successful candidate will work closely with faculty in identifying the best funding opportunities for their research ideas, designing,

and creating innovative and high-quality proposals in areas relevant to artificial intelligence and engineering, with a wide range of cases covering healthcare, drug discovery, climate and extreme weather resilience, transportation, national security and cybersecurity, big data, internet of things (lo T), and robotics.

Essential Functions: Large-scale Grant Development and Proposal Writing: Organize meetings for teams planning to respond to large-scale and center-scale Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Review the RFP guidelines and develop a project timeline with specific tasks. Identify potential institutional investments, community partnerships, and other assets that can strengthen the

proposal. Develop and edit proposal components, including but not limited to research plan, project description, facilities, and other resources, data management plan, postdoc mentoring plan, letters of support/collaboration, biosketches, current and pending supports, etc.

Manage the progress of the proposal to ensure timely and high-quality submissions, including but not limited to collecting letters, documents, and materials from partner organizations and investigators, and working closely with the sponsored program office to ensure all documents are delivered to the Research Administrators five business days before the due day to the sponsor. Manage external review process, including but not limited to working with State/RF Purchasing to secure external consultants or reviewers, serving as the point of contact for external consultants or reviewers.

Regular Grant Development Support: Offer one-on-one consultation for faculty and researchers with potential research projects/proposals. Review written materials and provide feedback and professional editing. Share funding opportunities with targeted research groups proactively. Organize seminars and workshops for emerging funding trends and opportunities. Major Sponsor Engagement Attend professional conferences and events hosted by major federal sponsors like NSF, NIH, DOD, DARPA, APAR-H, DOE, etc.

Connect faculty and researchers with officials from potential sponsors, including inviting program officers/managers for campus visits. Vice Presidential and Division Priorities Assist with high-priority research initiatives as needed. Project Management and Reporting Manage all ongoing tasks using a digital platform, e. g. Microsoft Planner or equivalent. Provide periodic and ad hoc reports on grant development activities. Nonessential Functions: Work with the Director of Strategic Initiatives, Data, backssment and Technology, and the Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI) on events management Assist in executing internal and external communications strategies across digital and print marketing channels for AI+ and other research initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field, from a college or university accredited by the U. S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization with three years of professional writing and editing experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field, from a college or university accredited by the U.

S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization with four years of professional writing and editing experience Academic background or professional experience in AI/machine learning, system engineering, optimization, data science, intelligent systems, human-computer interaction/communication, robotics, cybersecurity, biomedical engineering, or related fields. Experience in managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines, with strong time-management skills. Capability to work both independently and as a team member in-person and remotely, ability to multi-task and respond professionally in challenging situations is essential.

Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment as well as work collaboratively and adapt to changing processes and procedures. Strong customer service orientation to understand and assist a wide range of internal faculty. Strong computer (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point) and analytical skills Strong oral and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Ph D in a related field, from a college or university accredited by the U. S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

Experience as a grant writer or equivalent role in an R1 institute. Experience in large-scale and center-scale grant development. Experience in multi-institutional grant development.
