Provides for patients' personal hygiene: bathes patients, performs oral suctioning and superficial wound care, assists with chronic wound care, provides skin care for patient with TED hose, SCD, casts,

skeletal pins, assists with elimination, cares for the incontinent patient, cares for the patient with a urinary catheter, assists or gives cleansing enemas, sitz baths, non-sterile douches, and provides ostomy care.

Assists with feeding. Ambulates, positions, and turns patients and cares for the patient with altered mobility. Assists with patient safety related to age and condition: assists with patient restraints, assists with patient specific safety precautions, collects, reports and documents data related to patient needs/emergencies and usual patient behavior, and cares for the patient in a correctional environment. On incoming facilities, interviews incoming patients and completes

receiving/screening form; informs nurses and/or physicians/advanced practice providers/mid level practitioners of patients with health problems who need immediate attention; records on newly received patients; maintains statistical logs required for periodic reports; performs all duties necessary for psychiatric referrals and screening.

Assists in the maintenance of a safe, comfortable facility environment; obtains, stores and maintains shop and nursing medications/supplies. Distributes and documents patients' medications, both in general population and administrative segregation, from filled prescriptions, abiding by Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 95, " Licensing Standards for Medication Aides Handbook"Ensures drug room security, replaces facility working drug stocks, and maintains the upkeep of facility drug room and medical equipment.

Enters medication compliance into the shop computer system. Maintains patients' privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times. Practices basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations. Prioritizes and organizes work so that required assignments are completed within specified timeframe. Promotes positive interpersonal relationships among co-workers and Security.

Participates in in-service orientation and continuing education classes. Obtains 40 hours of continuing education/in-service hours on an annual basis to meet ACA standards. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structures established for department. Performs related duties as required. EQUIPMENT: Standard patient care supplies, equipment and mechanical devices. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment is located in a clean and safe medical facility within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped work space and/or fumes could sometimes cause discomfort.

Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required such as walking, standing, and lifting materials, equipment, objects, and/or patients. Lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs. Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch abilities must be adequate enough to enable one to quickly and accurately perform tasks such as: reading small print, reading from monitoring equipment, defining details, sending and receiving clear and accurate verbal communication. Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual, auditory, and sensory inputs.

Shift work is required. Alertness and careful attention to detail will bel required to avoid injury. May be assigned to more than one facility. May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation, chemotherapeutic agents, and disoriented or combative patients. May be required to be on standby and work extended or alternate shifts in situations deemed necessary by nurse manager. Able to work under stress and be emotionally capable of coping with complex and/or changing activities. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school or GED equivalent. Current Texas Certified Medication Aide permit. Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience. The Chandler Emergency Department consists of 5 different areas where care is provided: triage where the patient is seen to determine how to prioritize their care needs, chair centric and express care intended for low acuity patients that can be seen and discharged within 60 minutes, these patients usually have minor complaints like sore throat, an isolated extremity injury, or simple laceration.

The acute care area is a 16-bed area where common emergency complaints like abdominal pain, stable chest pain, and mild to moderate shortness of air receive care. Critical care has 8 beds and patients in this area range from trauma patients who have been resuscitated

in the trauma area and need continuing care to patients in need of intensive care unit treatment such as septic patients or those receiving vasoactive infusions.

And finally, the UK Level I Trauma Center has 8 beds capable of caring for the most complex injured patients. This position works one-on-one with a Registered Nurse (RN) to complete delegated tasks and provide direct patient care such as: obtain vital signs, phlebotomy, documentation, assist with ADL's (activities of daily living), order and stock supplies, respond to patient call lights, unit orientation, and patient admission, transfer, and discharge. Positions may also involve moving patients from bed to wheelchair or stretcher,

or stretcher to treatment/surgical tables. Handling of specimens and delivery to labs and preparation of patients for surgical procedures may also be required.

The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing prompt, compassionate, and patient centered care in a collaborative, team-oriented work environment. This dynamic environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the teams of physicians to increase communication, follow through, and enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.

Monitors and manages product recall alerts. ensures " chain of custody" for all tissue and mesh products as per JCAHO requirements. Performs analysis of supplies and equipment utilization for the purpose of standardization and cost effectiveness.

Participates in standardization and/or cost reduction initiatives. Participates in annual physical inventory preparation and execution. Provides necessary documentation for department leadership to modify and update Physician Preference Cards which drive the accuracy of case start time and zero defects environment, Responsible for all surgical and interventional equipment repairs. Enhancement Goals (QEP). With documented competency and proficiency may set up and prime equipment as directed by the Fresenius Nurse for renal replacement therapies(hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement and peritoneal dialysis therapies).

Will be responsible for assuring the dialysis machine hasbeen set up, tested and found to be safe fordialysis treatment in accordance with manufacturer instructions for use and company policy and procedures. Responsible for calculating and entry of individual patients'dialysis machineprogramming for Ultrafiltration (UF) goal; treatmenttime; Sodium (Na) modeling; and UF modeling as prescribed. Responsible for ensuringappropriate safety alarmsare enabled including narrowvenous limits (NVL 160).

Collects, labels specimens and ensurestimely delivery to laboratory per facilitypolicy. Evaluates intradialytic problemsand provides intervention as prescribedby physician's order or as directedby FMCNA RN. Monitorspatient's responseto dialysis therapyand report any unusual findingsto FMCNA RN. Obtains vital signs prior to reinfusion; performing all relevant functionsnecessary for the discontinuation of treatment- documentation. Reports any change or unusual findingsto FMCNA RN. Evaluates patient prior to termination of venousaccess - standing and sitting blood pressures prior to termination of venousaccess.

Obtains hemostasis and appliesappropriate dressings. Evaluates the patientprior to dischargeand reports any unusualfindings to the FMCNA RNReview and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
