MITRE’s Mission Platforms and Infrastructure department is currently seeking a Systems Engineer with skills related to Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) with the inclusion of Cyber Security expertise.
The position is an exciting opportunity to leverage MBSE capabilities, using Systems Modeling Language (Sys ML), to support AF sponsors efforts toward digital acquisition using agile methodologies. MBSE will be used to manage the development, testing and deployment of complex systems and software using a set of integrated commercial and GOTs tools to rapidly deliver mission systems to our warfighters to increase readiness to win the future fight. Moreover, MBSE, combined with Dev Sec Ops
and open architectures, will be foundational to the AF's efforts to achieve Digital Transformation, through use of agile technologies and methodologies.
Foundational to MBSE is Systems Engineering experience, which is central to successfully achieving desired outcomes. System Engineering allows a broader, more encompassing perspective when developing solutions through Sy ML. For example, the inclusion of Cyber Security principles and capabilities as an integrated component of MBSE architecture and designs is important, not as a secondary concern, but a core aspect of the MBSE model to ensure the protection and defensibility of our mission system.
Candidates will also help the Air Force resolve technical, process and cultural challenges to increase adoption and effective use of MBSE to support agile acquisition practices. Moreover, MBSE work efforts will include development of strategies to research and evaluate technologies, processes, and systems to devise innovative solutions to advance the MBSE space and AF goals. Job Responsibilities: Analyze, scope, organize and translate sponsor data into MBSE Sys ML artifacts and elements Use of Systems Modeling Language (Sys ML) to support MBSE development Use Sy ML tools to develop architecture, requirements, behavioral and parametric models Build various Sy ML views of models that support sponsor understanding Develop activity diagrams based on concept of operations Build and execute requirements traceability Support development of implementable strategies to address sponsor challenges with adoption of MBSE and associated tools Required Qualifications: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years and a Master’s degree, or Ph D with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step Working knowledge of MBSE principles and Sy ML Ability to develop MBSE model artifiacts, requirements, architectures, systems, and parametric models Use of one or more MBSE tools: Cameo/No Magic, IBM Rational, Phoenix Model Center, etc.
