MAJOR FUNCTION: To provide operate, set-up, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on CNC equipment to fabricate and modify tooling used in the production process. MAJOR TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Requires demonstrated skill and qualifications as a
CNC Technician I. Must have developed proficiency in the operation of the 2 Axis Lathe. Set-up, adjust, write and edit program and operate 2 CNC Lathes to produce a wide variety of tooling to close and/or exacting tolerances and finish requirements.
Includes a requirement to plan the work, determine cutting sequences, develop holding and chucking fixtures, establish feeds, speeds and cut depths and determine appropriate cutting tool(s) using the part print, sketches or verbal description of the part to be made. Requires the calculation of dimensional relationships, the determination of cut lengths, depth, etc. and entry of data to machine controller. Data input involves material type,
feeds, speeds, rough part dimensions, finished part dimensions, tools selected, cutting depth, etc.
Work is performed to close tolerances. All work requires " truing" part in holding chuck in order to assure consistency of dimensions and concentricity of surfaces. Majority of work, but not exclusively, is non-repetitive in nature involving single parts made to specific dimensions and/or configuration. Multiple parts may be produced without re-programming the machine. Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to position part, check dimensions during machining operation and check final part dimensions such as length, internal and external diameters and groove or step position.
Work involves the determination of locations and machining in the X, and Y axis, in addition to the turning, drilling, facing, taper, and boring operations similar to the 2 Axis CNC Lathe. Complexity of work performed is related to the skill of the operator and the capability of the machine. Requires a knowledge of machining characteristics of a variety of materials, in both hardened and non-hardened states, and exotic materials i. e. carbide, in order to determine the appropriate speeds, feeds and tools to produce parts to specification. Devise and fabricate " soft" jaws for non-barstock parts, partially finished parts and parts of unusual outside configuration, or to allow the use of cutting tools within the confined space allowed.
Select appropriate cutting tool (i. e. end mill, drill, boring bar, turning tool, etc) , tool size and configuration to perform the required operations. If tool is not already mounted in one of the 16 machine stations, select from available supply and position in tool holder. May require sharpening of " non-insert" tools such as drills and mills. Responsible for the cleanliness, housekeeping and preventive maintenance of tools (grease and oil), equipment, benches and surrounding work area.
Train and assist CNC I operators in the operation of equipment and the resolution of problems and/or unusual cutting or processing requirements, based on daily job assignments. This position is not responsible for the evaluation and job assignments of an employee, but is expected to contribute feedback where warranted. Occasionally runs multiple numbers of machines. May contact vendors to determine recommended spare parts, cutting tools, etc. Includes the testing of new products and contact with machine builders.

We can assist with financing and shipping as needed. This 1962 Impala SS has a lot to offer. To begin, this is a real black-over-red Impala SS; no color changes or fake badging here. It underwent a refurbishment in 2010 that included new paint and many new parts. It still wears
a number of period modifications from the 1960s and is powered by a fresh dual-quad 327. And while some of these classics change owners frequently, this Impala has been with the same individual for 55 years! This one has a colorful history. Its last owner purchased the car in 1968 when he was 16 years old.
The car was well-known on the street and had been fitted a variety of performance parts. This included a Corvette 327 fitted with a cross-ram intake (necessitating the teardrop style hood). While the car won plenty of races, it was also the owners primary transportation, getting him through high school and then tech school. They continued through life together. After decades of service,
the car received a major refurbishment in 2010. This included replacing the floor pans, trunk pans, and some cross bracing. It was repainted in its original code 900 Tuxedo Black with four coats of clear.
It was recently buffed as well for a nice shine. Most of the brightwork remains original including the front grille. The car was also fitted with 15 Weld aluminum wheels and Goodyear Eagle tires. The 327ci engine received a professional rebuild by part Skarlupka in 2019 with approximately 4,000 miles since. The 3782870 block was bored 0.060 while the crankshaft was turned 0.010/0.010. It was fitted with 10.5:1 pistons to give healthy compression but still work with pump gas. The rotating
assembly was balanced to 9,000 rpm for smooth operation. The valvetrain was fitted with hydraulic lifters and roller rockers, and the double-hump cylinder heads received hardened valve seats.
Up top is the vintage Edelbrock X-C8 intake topped by dual Holley carburetors. Such a great period setup! There is also a 4-core radiator and headers feeing a dual exhaust with cutout plates. The automatic transmission was upgraded from a 2-speed Powerglide to a 3-speed TH350 with a shift kit and lockup torque converter. The driveshaft was rebuilt accordingly and a new center support bearing installed. The Positraction rear end received new bearings and seals. Additional mechanical work included going through the front and rear suspension along with the steering components, and the braking system was upgraded to front discs with a dual reservoir master cylinder.
The factory code 875 red vinyl SS interior received some updates too. The bucket seats were redone with new foam and upholstery, while front and rear seat belts were installed. The carpet was replaced and comes with a set of rubber floor mats. A trio of underdash gauges was installed along with a column mounted tachometer. All the lighting works properly including the low / high beams, running lights, brake lights, turn signals, backup lights, dash lights, and courtesy lights.
The horn, wipers, heater, and parking brake all function properly as does the aftermarket digital radio. A spare tire and bumper jack reside in the cavernous trunk. This Impala just oozes character! It is a beautiful, solid car with a great blend of vintage and current upgrades. And with all the recent work it is in excellent mechanical condition as well. While you may be able to find another nice black/red 62 SS, this example is a real standout and has an incredible run of ownership. You wont find many like this one.
