Freezer gear will be provided by the company for your safety and comfort. Daily safety/maintenance checks for the forklift, record and report any malfunctions. Learn the procedures for battery changes. Receive instructions, store product in proper location in the freezer. Deliver product to packaging line for repack/blend. Bring in packaging supplies, such as KD cases, package machine paper, KD totes, pallets, glue barrels, metal bins and trash bins. Take out frozen waste product bins and paper bins to designated areas for dumping and replace them with empty bins.
Store bulk bins in the freezers in the designated location. Stack all bins evenly and to the designated height in the freezer. Restack, sort, and organize the freezer to maintain a neat, orderly appearance. This will help create an accurate inventory. Learn the locations of all bulk that is approved for blending and repackaging. Take out the trash bins, product bins, damaged pallets, KD cases, etc. to designated storage areas. Supply the bulk crew with restricted cases, KD totes, pallets, lids, liners, etc. Store bins from rework in designated areas of the freezers.
Set up bulk bins for shipment and be prepared to receive bulk bins. Learn to use a 2-way radio, scan gun and computer touch screens regularly. Understand information on the manifest tickets and how this information applies to their responsibilities. Understand the inventory procedure for " First In/First Out" or " FIFO" for short. Reports all equipment failures and mechanical problems to appropriate personnel. Complete forms in accurate, timely, and legible manner. Plant. King County protects water quality and public health in the central Puget Sound region by providing high quality and effective treatment to wastewater collected from our local sewer agencies. King County's wastewater operators not only help prevent the spread of many contagious diseases, but help the environment and the communities they reside in.
This position will be involved with following and maintaining established safety policies, guidelines, regulations, and workplace standards. The O&M facilities are currently undergoing major capital improvements expected to continue over the next 10 years. The candidate will be a part of a flexible and dynamic team responsible for providing
expertise and support to maintain continuous effective wastewater operations. The candidate will aid other plant staff, other King County staff, contractors and consultants as needed or required.
A successful candidate will maintain and strive toward intra-team and cross-team support and cooperation daily. The candidate will operate, monitor, and control wastewater treatment equipment using manual operations or complex computerized systems. The individual will be expected to troubleshoot all wastewater equipment, systems, and processes with limited supervision. An ability to provide clear and effective communications with the public, fellow team members, other treatment plant staff, and
other King County work groups to accomplish work requirements is a must.
The treatment plants operate on a 24/7/365 schedule. The ability to work varied operations shift schedules is a necessity and a requirement. As a mission critical employee, an individual within the operations group is expected to report for duty when required. A person hired in as an operator could work through our job progression process to become a senior operator. There are also opportunities for advancement or career enhancement throughout the Wastewater Treatment Division. Senior operator level is obtained through internal job progression process. The salary range listed above includes the Operator level ($34.9769-$44.3354/per hour) and Senior Operator level ($40.3226-$48.7470/per hour).

Operate, monitor and maintain biological, chemical, mechanical and hydraulic processes at wastewater treatment plants, collection system pump and regulator stations and associated facilities. Determine, recommend changes to systems and processes to meet permits and Federal regulations and to optimize the performance of wastewater facilities. Perform maintenance on wastewater facilities, including buildings, equipment and grounds. Duties include cleaning, servicing operating equipment, mowing lawns and performing housekeeping tasks. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Minimum qualifications Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including preliminary, primary, secondary, digestion, gas handling systems, sludge handling, plant-wide air, water, chemical, electrical and hydraulic support systems.
Knowledge of collection systems; including pump stations, regulator stations, CSO facilities and miscellaneous structures. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical theory, cross connections and pumps Knowledge of wastewater terminology and process control Knowledge of industrial safety procedures and practices Knowledge of and skill in applying sampling, testing and laboratory procedures Communication skills, basic mathematics, algebra, and computer application skills. Skill in reading, recording and interpreting instrumentation and control guages and meters Skill in operating basic hand and power tools and specialized equipment Skill in operating complex computer control systems and identifying normal and abnormal operating conditions Skill in the interpretation and application of technical information from plant drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, and lab tests Licensing, Certification and other Requirements Washington State Group I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification from the Washington State Department of Ecology or out-of-state equivalency which must be converted to a Washington certification within one year of employment.
Valid Washington State Driver's License CPR and First Aid certification Additional licenses, certifications and other requirements determined to be necessary to meet the business needs of the employing unit may be required.
