ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains municipal buildings by mowing grass, maintaining landscapes, maintaining irrigation systems, picking up trash and performing related duties as assigned. Assist with field, class or court setup and tear down, including field maintenance The employee must have the ability to work well with others and have a good/pleasant attitude. Ability to effectively communicate and work with citizens who may have complaints on services provided. Regular and timely attendance is an essential job function. Job location will vary due to seasonal sports. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the rules, regulations and procedures of recreational programs and various recreations, aquatic and athletic events as they relate to grounds maintenance operations; Knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds and/or turf maintenance; Ability to have basic computer skills and ability to operate field maintenance equipment; Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and general public.
SELECTION GUIDELINES: Formal application, rating of education and experience; oral interview, reference check, job related tests may be required, pre-employment drug tests. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Pickup truck; lawn/turf and landscaping equipment, including tractors, mowers, acidifiers/aeration equipment , chain saw, edger's, backflows, weed trimmers, trailers, backhoe, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, irrigation systems; miscellaneous hand and power tools for lawn maintenance.
